Lo spazio
YOU
-Aren't too particular or afraid of the dark - the door is on the side/back of the house.
-Are adventurous. :-)
-Want to save money, but still want your privacy :-)
-Are responsible & will be respectful of my house & neighbors (no wild parties, no smoking in my house, no police).
-Just want a quiet warm/cool place to pass the time, do some light cooking, walk to the metro, get decent sleep & save money.
-You don't mind cleaning up after yourself & you do a good job

FYI - There are only a few reviews, b/c many guests stay 12-18 months. Antoine (1st rvw) stayed 18 months; Mikini came Dec. 2017, stayed downstairs for 6 months, then moved upstairs until Dec. 2018. This is a great place to stay while looking for somewhere to stay.
I usually get ppl relocating to the area, doctors on rotation, temp. workers, interns, etc.

This sunny 2 bedroom apt is in the BASEMENT of an OLD Cape Cod. 5 min walk to the New Carrollton Metro. Park in front of the house. Sun & light through the big windows.

There is a full bath - with great water pressure, two bedrooms (one small, one med-large), a living room area & kitchen space. There is also a washer/dryer (shared). There is an old (working) fridge & rusty microwave. All the basics to cook are there - pots & pans, utensils, etc. Dorm-sized stove w/ four burners & oven. Cabinets are full of tupperware, condiments, water boiler. Coffee maker upon request. If you need other stuff let me know.

So, I'll interject THE CATCH here. U get what you pay for :-)
1. You are expected to leave the space in the same or better condition than when you arrived. You must clean up after yourself. Maid service after each guest would force me to raise the rate. I'm trying to offer a decent place that is affordable; the Sheraton up the street, does not require you to clean up after yourself - but you can't get a room for $60 either.

They have a two-room suite for $518 a night - recently renovated. Think about what you get for that rate. Then think about my rate. Lower your expectations. :-) There's nothing wrong with it - it just isn't upscale. The furniture is Ikea or craigslist, the sheets and towels came from Walmart. I do buy them regularly and there are often new ones.

2. As you'll see my family & friends did a lot of DIY. My mom created the color in the laundry room :-O. This is just a place to crash. It's clean & quiet. Can't figure out how to get the baseboards to stay flush even though I keep nailing them in. I'm updating it as I can. The floors are brand new & pricey but installed poorly. (smh)

4. There is a huge backyard and an almost bigger deck that needs a good cleaning. It is mostly cluttered with leaves. There's crap under the deck that I intend to dispose of/donate soon (anyone wanna buy a big dog cage/carrier?). If you wanna mow for a discount - let me know.

5. NOT VERY KID FRIENDLY RIGHT NOW, THERE IS WORK GOING ON IN THE YARD.

6. Sometimes in the summer, there are spider crickets.

Tennis & basketball courts at West Lanham Neighborhood Park - walking distance. Do a search for "New Carrollton Metro" in Hyattsville, MD. If you zoom in on Route 450 you should be able to see the neighborhood (West Lanham) and all the stores nearby. I guess you can search West Lanham Neighborhood Park Rec Center too. Ten minutes to two hospitals and the University of MD. They have a shuttle that stops up the street.

I'm reasonable & a little flexible for the right person/situation. Long term & single person discounts available, but know 3-6 weeks isn't long term & summer is busy.

Accesso per gli ospiti
Your private entrance is the only usable entrance. Keyless entry. The space is your own - although the laundry room (only) might be shared.

Two bedroom basement apartment.
There is a really big backyard. Is mostly unkept & at times unsightly

Hyattsville, Maryland, Stati Uniti

The neighborhood is extremely diverse. Spanish to right, Norwegian to the left. Japanese around the corner. It is urban. We have some hippies, some blue-collar, professionals, unemployed and lots of elderly. Pretty close knit community; it consists of 6-8 blocks down in a little valley. We have monthly neighborhood meetings, fun day, Halloween parties, Santa's Workshop, senior trips & we buy back to school supplies for all the kids. Sometimes it looks grungy, but it has always been safe. I've had tenants of all races over the years and never had a problem.

West Lanham is an unincorporated area of Hyattsville. The rec center is around the corner with a little playground, grills, benches, basketball & tennis court.

Bi-coastal attorney. Split my time between MD/DC Metro & Los Angeles - where I was born & raised. Mid 30 something. Love to travel. Quiet, respectful, considerate, keep to myself, abhor bugs. As a Host In Maryland - I have two houses. One is in Baltimore on East Federal Street. The other is at the end of the DC Metro line at the New Carrollton stop. Ten minutes to DC, 20 minutes to Downtown DC. Very interested in a house swapping arrangement for the house outside DC for something in L.A. The basement has a two bedroom apartment with its own entrance, bath, kitchen, etc. I may or may not be at the house during your stay. If I am there and my hectic schedule permits I'll pick you up from the metro if necessary and take you around the neighborhood for a quick tour and to the store for groceries, etc if I'm available. If I'm not in town - I'll have my assistant or next door neighbor Odin meet you with the key, unless you come in late in which case I'll let you know where the key is. Whether in town or not, you'll probably rarely see me. This place is for someone self-sufficient and independent, looking for a private space. As a Guest I'm quiet and when in L.A. keep long hours at the office. Very interested in a long term house swapping/sharing situation. My DC Metro for your Los Angeles something. My house can be divided 2-3 ways and I'm flexible. There is a 2 bed room apartment in the basement. The first floor in the house has two bed rooms a full bath, the living room and kitchen. The top floor if loft like with a sitting area, bedroom and a big closet where I'm thinking of adding a bathroom. I could keep the space upstairs for myself when I'm in town and swap out the first floor (although we would have to share the kitchen when I'm in town) or I could swap out the basement, or move my stuff into the basement and swap out the top two floors. Any ideas - let me know.

Little interaction. 5 minute neighborhood tour ( IF I'm in town & u want) and inspection upon leaving. Someone always available to address any issues that might arise BUT I may not physically be at the location. I may never see you. This place is for low-maintenance self-sufficient guests only.
