Cosy, pet-friendly annex on our secluded free-hold in the beautiful countryside of Kent, located just 10 minutes from the Channel Tunnel and 20 minutes from Dover Ferry Port. Wake up to the sound of Bertie the rooster announcing a new day! Relax in the hammock watching Dudley the donkey or enjoy a brisk country walk along the many public footpaths in our area - perfect for dog walkers. If you fancy a day trip, you can be in London within an hour or Canterbury in 20 minutes.
You'll be staying in our newly established annex, furnished with all you need for a comfortable and enjoyable stay including washing machine and drying racks, iron and ironing board and full kitchen facilities including fridge with freezer compartment, halogen hob, oven, dishwasher, toaster, kettle and, of course, tea and coffee making facilities.
The sofa folds into a double bed so if you do bring a child, a friend, a parent he/she would be able to sleep in the living room. We don't think the annex is suitable for 4 adults.
There is secure private parking on the property.
Tepid-water out door dog shower by the main gate.
If you do find that there is anything you think would improve the comfort of your stay please let us know and we'll see what we can do.
Stabling for 1 - 2 horses available by separate negotiation in the summer months.
The annex and our house are both set in a large, fenced in (dog proof) garden. We're happy for you to let your dog run free and as a rule, we'll not over crowd it with our mutts when you're visiting unless dogs have been introduced and accepted.
There are lovely (dog) walks from the door step and we've left you an ordinance survey map to find even the hidden ones. Feel free to use the tepid-water out door dog shower by the gate if your dog needs a swill afterwards.
We both work, and sometimes weekends but there will usually be at least one of us here so if you would like a full day away but worry about your dog then please ask us in advance about dog walking. If at all possible, we'll happily take your dog for a walk.
We have a variety of ex-battery rescue chicken who don't lay many eggs. In fact we've told them they don't need to lay any. But when they do, they're lovely and you're welcome to them.
If you'd like to bring your horse in the summer months, we can put him up in a nice stable and we have a little sand school at the top of our field that you can ride on if you're not hacking out.
Interazione con gli ospiti
We'll leave it up to you to decide how much you want to interact. Although we will need to pass by the annex in order to get to the stable area at least morning and evening, we will try to respect your privacy. If you need anything or have any questions, please let us know and we'll do our best to help.
- Leave our little cottage as you found it....and enjoy your stay! We love animals and have quite a few. You are welcome to visit them but treat them kindly. If you do bring a dog, and he/she gets on with ours, they can play in our large dog-proof garden. If he/she doesn't get on with ours we'll need to coordinate. Our first priority is your pets enjoyment and safety so if you would like your dog to play with ours, please let us know and we'll arrange introductions. All three of our dogs (two female and one male) are spayed/neutered and generally kind and gentle. They are used to socialising with dogs outside their little group and enjoy it but whereas the females are small/medium sized dogs our male is big so we'll keep him away from yours until we can see your dog feels comfortable around him.
- We realise that our dogs (rough collies) bark so let us know if you plan a nap or just quiet time and we'll bribe them with chewy bones (and keep them out of the garden).
- For many reasons we don't want anyone smoking anywhere on the grounds. That means that if you do want to smoke you'll have to go outside our main entrance gate (remember to clean up the stubs). We're a bit funny about smoking but one of us has had lung surgery so please don't smoke on our premises.
