Friendly, youthful, diverse, dog friendly, lovely neighborhood great little shops, cafés, restaurants and entertainment. This neighborhood is a great place to hang out and explore and not an outpost from which you must escape into Manhattan. It quintessential New York. In the immediate neighborhood are the Brooklyn Museum, the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens, Prospect Park, and the Barclays Center is in walking distance. The immediate neighborhood also features excellent restaurants, venues offering jazz, blues and indie rock. So stay in Brooklyn or run around Manhattan. Either way, you will have a great time.
Six subway lines and 3 bus lines in close proximity for quick rides into Manhattan or around Brooklyn. There is a subway stop on the block. Getting into Manhattan is very quick, only 4 stops to Bowling Green stop on the 4 or 5 trains (less than 20 minutes).
Travel to and from JFK by taxi is about 25 mins and $40-45. By public transportation it is about 1 to 1-1/2 hours depending on time of day and day of week.

Ivy was a warm & welcoming host. Her dog ZsuZsu is both friendly and well behaved. The room was perfect for us and extremely convenient. We were very happy with the experience.
Ivy is a great host. The house its how is on the pictures. The room is spacious and the cupboard and the drawers were very handy. We were 3 in the room and had room to move. She had maps on the room which was good it was our first time in new York. The apartment was well located close to the station. Anytime we needed information Ivy was there to help us. We felt at home. Zuzu is a very nice dog. Thank you Ivy
Ivy is the most lovely host you could have. She made our stay in Brooklyn very memorable. We highly recommend you to stay at Ivy's place.
My wife and I had a delightful time staying with Ivy in her "ProCro" (realtor-speak for Prospect Heights/Crown Heights) apartment this past wintry weekend. The apartment is on the fourth floor of a secure apartment building (a residence for nurses-in-training in a former incarnation) and we were able to find free parking on the street right in front of her building all weekend long. Nearby Vanderbilt Street has some excellent ethnic and contemporary American restaurants, and both Prospect Park and the Brooklyn Museum are in easy walking distance. The area is very well served by the subway system, too, so getting into Manhattan for theater and museums is not a problem.
Ivy is very friendly and open and makes a wonderful host. Although we've used Airbnb a number of times when we've traveled as a family, we've never stayed in a private room with a host before. Ivy's well-educated, courteous, helpful, and a delightful conversationalist - we couldn't have had a better time with her. Also, her Portuguese water dog (Zsu-Zsu) is as friendly and sweet a dog as you're ever likely to meet and, I think, hypo-allergenic to boot. The whole experience was as easy and pleasant as it could possibly have been. Wholly and highly recommended.
Ivy was delightful and very welcoming. The neighborhood was enjoyable. The accommodations were a bit tight, but the bedroom was clean and pleasant. We also loved the dog.
I had an excellent stay here. Ivy (and Zsuzsu) were great hosts, and I would definitely stay there again. Plus Crown Heights is a great neighborhood to be in.
Very cordial host. The room more than met our needs. Close to our son (1 block away) and easy walk to the subway. Lots to eat and do in this burgeoning neighborhood.

Born into a family that loves to entertain and are great hosts, I will make sure your stay in New York is comfortable and enjoyable. Since I became an Airbnb host, I have met lots of wonderful people from all over the U.S. and the world. I really consider it my pleasure and privilege to be an Airbnb host.

A friendly neighborhood bar and a great place to hang out with friends.
Authentic Jamaican cuisine, well done.
A neighborhood institution and the best breakfast in Brooklyn, maybe all of NYC. Food and service are both great. Long lines on the weekend, but worth it. Suzanne Vega wrote her song about it (shhh)
Delicious pastas and sauces made on the premises.
Good baristas. Good coffee and really good hot chocolate. Free wi-fi. Near Franklin subway stop.

Wonderful family-style Italian restaurant. Solid food, always good service, and for my money, the best D.O.C. Marguerita pizza. In my NY top 5.
Art movies, independent and mainstream movies. Concerts, plays, art exhibits. So much to offer. One stop away on 4 and 5 train - or walk.
Art House style local movie theatre playing mainstream movies.
I've been shopping at Trader Joe's for nearly 20 years (Brookline, MA first). Variety, interesting items, specialty foods at regular Joe prices. This one is easy to get to by 2,3,4,5 and C.
Live music, great food, bowling lanes with big comfy seating. It's a little pricey, but a lot of fun.
