For your arrival, Homestead East Cottage will be clean and made up with fresh linens on the beds and plenty of clean towels. We provide organic soaps, dish soap, shampoo and cleaners, as well as 100% recycled paper products. After your arrival, housekeeping and additional firewood will be provided when in high season. To avoid an additional cleaning fee, we ask that upon departure guests leave Homestead East as they found it: washing all the dishes (may leave to dry in rack) and leaving things clean and tidy. We wash the linens upon your departure, and if requested, will change them mid-week in a week-long stay (during high season).
Homestead East has easy, drive-up access, and is on the sunrise side of the Homestead duplex, which is on a rocky bluff facing the ocean. Inside you'll find knotty pine paneling, two bedrooms (queen and two twins). There is a hide-a-bed in the living room, as well as a fireplace. The bathroom is furnished with a tub and shower.
Guest staying with us have access to the beach and seashores. There are hiking trails on the property which can be navigated via the map provided. You are welcome to take advantage of Oakland House's front porch and its chairs. Should you have questions, feel free to visit the office, or approach any of our employees. We will be happy to help!

We're eager to help with suggestions of where to go and what to do in the area. We have compiled a very comprehensive Guest Directory for guests in our cottages. It includes lists of local attractions, parks, hiking trails, restaurants, musical events, art galleries, and things to do and see.
Our staff lives on site and is available to provide more information and assistance. There is an old-fashioned pay phone on the porch of the old Oakland House hotel. Calls are free within the local exchange.
Altre cose da evidenziare
We have “country Wi-Fi” which is quite different from high speed DSL or inner city wireless connection. Our system is sufficient for personal email and simple searches and web browsing. It is not sufficient for streaming audio or video, or uploading large photo files to a server. Streaming sports events and movies does not work.
We do as much as we can to be environmentally friendly. We have replaced incandescent lights with florescent and LEDs as needed. We do not use pesticides on our lawns or gardens, and as a result we have a large assortment of wildlife living in harmony with the surrounds.
**** PLEASE NOTE THAT AS A LICENSED LODGING BUSINESS, WE ARE REQUIRED TO COLLECT AN 9% STATE OF MAINE LODGING TAX. Starting April 1, guests will pay the Maine State Lodging Tax of 9% directly through Airbnb and it will no longer be included in our rate.****
In order for there to be no additional cleaning fee, we require that dishes/utensils are cleaned (can be left to dry in rack), and the cottage is left clean and tidy. We wash linens and do a deep clean before each arrival. No smoking inside any of the buildings on our property. We expect our guests to treat others with consideration, respect, and courtesy. No pets of any kind are permitted in Homestead East Cottage. If you have a canine companion please check out Birches Cottage on AirBnB. Thank you!

I am an energetic mature coast of Mainer. What? I have been around the world and experienced many things. While I have degrees in microbiology and industrial design, I call myself a farmer....well, an innkeeper too. I love gardening and have more recently fallen in love with hot metal. That's blacksmithing. Importantly, I am hospitable and gracious in welcoming people and being gracious to strangers. I am a creative person and nurture that in others. The accommodations I have listed are a few select ones that are in the business that I inherited from my husband who was a fourth generation innkeeper on this coastal property. I am a busy business person and you will not always find me on site. My staff is always available if I am not. Each one of them is and has talent in so many ways: musically WOW, Artistically AMAZING and Creatively Stupifying! They and I welcome you!
