Terrible stay. First off roads are very treacherous on the way to the site. No clear directions. When we tried to contact the host he sent a text saying he couldn't talk right now....Took us about an hour on the property to find it. Once we got there we were swarmed with mosquitos from so called swimming pond. The pond is completely infested with mosquitos. Wasn't what was advertised at all. Would not recommend anyone wasting money to stay here. We all still have welts from the mosquitos.

Risposta di Mitchel:
Traveling to the property is best done with a sense of adventure, experience driving off road, and a love for the outdoors. When Lindsay called me I clicked the "Sorry, I can't talk now." option on my iPhone when Lindsay called because I was speaking with someone in person. I messaged her two minutes later on Airbnb letting her know I will call her in 10 minutes as well as offering her specific details to help her figure out where she was lost at. I then called as I said and stayed on the phone helping her get to the property. I gave her detailed directions almost every 50 feet to her camp site. Regarding the pond, there are people who enjoy swimming in it, myself included, and others who prefer swimming pools. Or just kayaking in it. I think the pond is clean. It is a pond though and there is fish and algae. Each person's level of comfort may vary. Lindsay called me asking for bug repellent. I wish I had some to offer her. Perhaps she would have enjoyed her stay. The pond is not infested with mosquitoes. We treat the water so they can't grow. She happened to arrive during golden hour when they are out the most. Mosquitoes are a natural part of forests and camping. If you come prepared, bring bug spray, and wear a long sleeve shirts/pants during golden hour then I think you will be okay and enjoy your stay.

The private valley in the redwoods was as described. It was exactly what we needed and were looking for as a group of seven. If you long for regular amenities and are use to luxury hotels this may not be for you. If you appreciate privacy, beautiful views, off grid living, solitude and over all connection to the earth and old growth redwoods you'll love it here. The host let us be and gave us plenty of room spread out. There was more than enough space for tents. We had six of them. I was a little concerned the bathroom might be too far away or not functioning properly. This was not the case. The bathroom near the yurt worked fine. The road was not as treacherous as I thought it would be based on the description but I agree with the host, four wheel drive will certainly get you there safely. Discreet road signs or markers would be quite helpful but we found the valley based on the directions anyhow. Overall we were very please with the experience. Mitchel was very friendly and interesting to talk to. We could have talked to him longer but I got the feeling that he wanted to respect our space and let us get weird. The pond was a ton of fun. Bring something to float on and relax. There's no better place to do it. The views are epic. The other guests were very friendly too. We will definitely return. Thank you Mitchel for sharing your dream with us.

Our stay here was so unpleasant that we had to pack up a day early. Upon arrival, we noticed right away that there were signs for "No Fire" in our fire ring. Before arriving, I had confirmed if there were grills/fire rings. If having a fire would be a problem, he should have given us a heads up. I had to text him to confirm and it turns out that it was a miscommunication between him and his tenants. The tenants: I had no idea he has a family of people living on his land, next to us. The campsite we rented was advertised as "private" but it was the contrary. The tenants were rude and disturbing. Our first encounter with them was right after we checked in and started the fire. The lady came and yelled at us for starting a fire and went on and on about forest fires and the safety of her family. It was irritating, but we reassured her that we're experienced campers and we know how to put out a fire correctly. She left and later on came back with a shovel and talked more about putting out the fire correctly. Later the same night around 11pm, she and her partner drove their car next to our campsite. AGAIN, bugged us about how to put out the fire correctly. I was already sleeping at that time and was woken up. It was pretty clear we were not welcomed. The next morning we took our dog up near the restroom. I believe either Mitchel or the tenants have a dog on site too. Dogs bark at the presence of other dogs. It's NORMAL. The tenants drove their car to the restroom and rudely told us to shut our dog up because they "have a sleeping baby." These people are worst than Beverly Hills snobs. The pond that is advertised for swimming/kayaking had almost no water in it and was filled with mosquitoes. Getting there is difficult even on a 4x4. That was the only thing accurately disclosed. It's highly probable you can pop a tire getting there. His neighbors are paranoid and unwelcoming as described. This campsite is overpriced as well. There isn't much to do during your stay except learn how to put out fires from Smokey the Bear. You can hike along the road that takes you into the campsite at your own risk. We ran into some of his neighbors who were extremely private and paranoid. It made sense they are living deep within the Santa Cruz mountains.

Mitch was awesome host. Very peaceful and quiet. You don't have to worry about rude campers. Great for large groups. A 4-wheel drive is a must!! Will definitely be back next year.

Our experience was good overall! Literally the only thing that was stressful was getting there late and driving a honda civic! Beautiful views, peaceful, chill owner! Top notch.

I'm a hippie at heart and love living in the Santa Cruz mountains!

Looking for an investor in the property. To build it out as a retreat center and/or tech incubator.
