2 camere da letto
"Sognare" means "to dream" and is the name of my palazzo in the heart of a small town just 5 km from the beautiful Adriatic Sea. This is a lovingly restored palazzo with vaulted ceilings and walls of stone. The ground floor has a large living room with two couches, and a t.v., a dining room and an eat-in kitchen with a small outside terrace and a full bath. The first floor ( 2nd for Americans) has a master bedroom with bath and balconies overlooking the main piazza and a guest room and bath.
My house is unique in that it has all exposed stone and vaulted ceilings. My brother said: " This is not a house, this is a castle". If you have bad knees, this is not for you. I have a great many stairs to the second floor and they are very steep. But... I have a wonderful iron stair railing which gets much use!
Guests have access to the whole house. I only have a small terrace outside the kitchen and then a laundry terrace on the next floor and a rooftop terrace which unfortunately did not treat my plants well. The wind exposure on the roof was not conducive to either a bamboo terrace or plants. When I am there, I put out a fold out table and chairs with table cloth and a heavy rock to keep the table cloth in place. You can even see a sliver of the sea from there.

Unfortunately, if you are there, I cannot be. But I can be reached by phone or email at any time. My neighbor, Ivana, who cleans the house and is a dear friend, can be consulted for most things. I generally try to talk to my guests before they actually go stay at Sognare to discuss anything they may be concerned about or if they want to know what things to do in the area.
Altre cose da evidenziare
This region of Puglia in called Salentino and is known for its hospitality. I am known as "La Americana" and welcomed with open arms. There are tiny towns dappled closely throughout the region and simply charming to explore, each with their own flavor. In the summer, each town has their own festivals and if you buy Qui Salento, a local magazine, you will find all kinds of events, tastings, music and things to do in the area on a daily basis.
One should not miss Galatina, Gallipoli, Santa Cesaria, Maglie, Lecce or the ceramics at Cutrofiano at Fratelli Coli. Day trips to Ostuni or Martina Franca, Brindisi, Bari, Alberobello. There are myriad masserias, which are hotels ranging from fancy to simple where they often grown all their own food and serve it in their restaurants. A favorite of mine is actually called a tenuta ( I still have not figured out the difference between a tenuta and a masseria) called Tenuta Sant'Emiliano on the coastal road from Otranto, just before you get to Porto Badisco. Just the antipasto of the house is enough for dinner!
The sea is just minutes away and the coastline spectacular either with white sandy beaches or limestone outcroppings from which one can dive or lounge. This is the real Italy; the one in which all closes at 1:00 for "prank" and naps and reopens at 4:00.
Oh and I forgot about the weekly markets. Each town has an outdoor market on one particular day of the week. I found my favorite ones are in Poggiardo and Maglie. Poggiardo in on Wednesday and Maglie on Saturday.
They are generally from 9-1.
- Please be respectful of my possessions. I call my house Sognare because she was and is one of my most precious dreams and I would like to share her with you!
- As my street is very narrow, if you do not want to park your car in the piazza ( I did once when I had a big car), please park as close to the big door of my house and remember to pull your right side view mirror in. My street gets narrower toward the front.
- Sometimes the toilets want to run, so please just stop and listen and then bat the wall flusher gently or refresh the little wall flush.
- Please email me if you have ANY questions or concerns: (EMAIL HIDDEN)

Hi ! My name is Suzanne, but my nickname is Sukey.
I am a very well travelled real estate agent who has lived in this beautiful area of Southeastern Connecticut since college. I love it here because I can walk to downtown restaurants, some of which are either on the Mystic River or have views. People come here to go to the famous Mystic Seaport or the Aquarium or to one of two casinos in the area or to just enjoy the little boutiques and restaurants. The boating and beaches are sensational and there are ferries within reasonable distances to go to Block Island if one wants for a day trip or more. The train station is on the main Amtrak corridor from Boston to Florida. Boston is only a two hour drive. New York is two hours by car or by varying ways by different trains. Providence airport is 40 minutes away and Hartford is about an hour. I have travelled extensively and still, after loving so many different parts of the world, am truly amazed at how lucky I am to live in this exquisitely charming and pretty town!
Please note that I do live downstairs and have a cat. But... there is a door at the bottom of the stairs to the upstairs that remains closed.
I look forward to hearing from you and hope you will come visit 2 Ivy Rd.
I also have a house in Italy and love it for its location and because I can walk to restaurants and bars and the grocery too. I love the ocean and my house in Italy is just 5 kilometers from the Adriatic sea on the real "heel" of the Italian "boot". Check it out if you want to see the real Italy and have done the Florence, Rome and Venice things...
