Beautiful sunny furnished room in lovely, elegantly restored Victorian townhouse in a very desirable location 6 blocks from MIT and Harvard. THIS PROPERTY IS NOT AN APARTMENT, IT IS A TOWNHOUSE.
Quiet street, 1 block to Central T. The house is in a vibrant area with lots of cool pubs, restaurants, bookstores, art galleries, grocery stores, banks, etc, but on a very quiet side street, so it offers the best of all worlds.

Good location, nice apartment, highly recommend.
Good location and very convenient for short stay in Cambridge. Rooms are not as modern as it is depicted in the pictures.
A good value for money - great location, big room, nice furniture. The shower curtains were a bit grody and having to share a two bathrooms with 6 other rooms is a bit of a bummer, but it was the best deal for the price and the location was superb for the academic stuff at Harvard and MIT I had to do.
Overall good experience, the location is 10/15 min walk from Harvard's campus, which is pretty convenient when visiting relatives studying there.
Everything worked well. The place is indeed well connected. A little hard to reach the owner in case of need.
The room was well prepared, but I had trouble getting in the front door since I had missed placed the code. I called and emailed many times but there was not return call. It was very disconcerting when there was not any verbal interface with the owner.
Bathroom appeared to be cleaned daily, but I really could not tell.
Front steps and railings were dirty and did not create good first impressions. Highly recommend the front of house be repainted annually and cleaned with soap/water weekly.
Convenient not having to worry about a key & a great location
There were lots of dirt spots on the sheets, all over the walls, the blinds had big brown spots on them, there were insects on the blinds, the air vent blowing into our room had a clump of dirt in it.
The room depicted on line is not the same quality you will actually get. If you look on line, you see a freshly painted beautiful looking room with flowers, beautiful decorations, flat screen TV's etc. This is not what we received. We had old book shelves with someone's books, our TV was an old box sitting on a chair next to the bed, and we had a tiny fridge sitting on the floor out in the open. Additionally the desks and bookshelves had ugly paint splotches all over them and were in terrible condition. Bottom line, the room that we stepped into was not a place of rest and comfort that we expected from what we saw on line.
The refrigerator was filthy. There was dirt, head hair, and pubic hair inside the refrigerator.
I think the biggest thing to point out from this experience is a false representation of what the real product is. The room was old, shabby, and completely disgusting. Furthermore, we actually contacted John Black. However I spoke with a woman instead, and she was completely disrespectful to us. When I called, I told her that we were disappointed with the conditions and were planning to move out. I asked for a full refund and she refused to provide any help. What was most frustrating was her inability to understand our situation (we had just drove 7.5 hours). She did absolutely nothing to help us out. She did not offer to clean, switch rooms, or refund us. She said she was not going to help us out at all, then just hung up. She seemed very frustrated that I had called to complain.
Long story short, we left the property and filed a complaint with air bnb. Fortunately we were able to get a full refund. Highly recommend staying away from the property.
Nice house, strangely empty - didn't see anyone else. Everything worked fine though, very comfortable.
Great place and great location. Many bars + restaurants to eat around, but the most convenient thing was the close proximity to Boston city.
I was given a room on the third floor. The bathroom was clean and very pleasant, unlike what others mentioned. . It was quite scary the first night I stayed. I didn't know who else was in the house, new place, and a creepy picture in the room. I had to take it down and set it aside for my own comfort.
Overall the room was great, very comfortable and spacious.
