Chill out with other backpackers and enjoy the view over the mountains, sipping on our freshly brewed coffee. This place is perfect for people who just need a place to sleep in an awesome environment. The area is perfect for hikes and exploring the village culture of the mountains.

L'alloggio

This part of Bali is not visited by many tourists and you will be able to explore the pristine Bali.

Our place is called Tang Ting Tung (that's the sound when we smash the coffee beans to get rid of the husks). We are processing and selling small batches of local coffee. If you are lucky you can witness the whole process.
We are also running the guesthouse Bukit Kembar at the main road. You can eat there and connect to the (slow) wifi.

Our house has a large terrace that overlooks the farms, down to the north coast and even as far as Java. We sometimes get some of the best sunsets.

We are located up in the mountains of Bali between Munduk and Bedugul. Our village is surrounded by lush jungles overlooking two volcanic lakes. It is the perfect place for people who love hiking and want to explore the rural parts of Bali.

Our homestay is simple but the rooms have the basic amenities that you need after an unforgettable day in the jungles: a warm bed and shower. We serve local and fusion dishes in our restaurant. We have a fireplace and often sit together in the evening and play music or talk.
We also have a shelf with books; claim a bean bag or a hammock in the garden and just relax.

Accesso ospiti

Compared to the guest house you have the much better view from the large terrace. In addition, you can use the whole infrastructure of the guest house, such as the restaurant and the wifi.

Interazione con gli ospiti

We love to interact with our guests. Before we made a business out of our passion we were hosting countless couchsurfers. We love to sit together enjoy a good meal and talk about life. Papa Jero, the head of the family is a spiritual teacher and has a lot of interesting stories to tell.

Altre cose da evidenziare

We are on 1300 m above sea level on the top of an ancient crater. Make sure you bring a jacket/jumper. Even though you would not expect it, it can get quite cold in the night.

If you plan to stay around Munduk you should give a try to papajero's place, the location is awesome. On one side you will have a great view on the lake, on the other side you will see the forest with the sunset. You can meet many others travellers here and papajero's family is really nice. We had the chance to be invited to a local ceremony! Also had a very good rest and sleep in this quiet place. Near the main road so it's easy to move to visit Munduk waterfall. I highly recommend this place!!

Host was pretty kind and always willing to help. The view is amazing! Unfortunately the room was smelling like mold and it was wet in there. You can stay there one night without any problems, but if you are scared of insects you should not. But thats because the place is right in the nature. Thats not the hosts fault.

Near to this place has amazing view of sunrise, sunset, rainbow and the moon and the owner is very respectful and talking. Apart from this advantages doesn't worth to stay here, the bathroom is terrible doesn't have bed, the room is small and doesn't have window.

Great place great people. If you want a quintessentially Balinese experience this place is worth spending a couple days at. It does rain quite a bit but the views are unlike anything I have ever seen. There is a central hangout where you can meet many characters. 10/10! Also order their rosemary chicken, it's very good!

I was born and raised in our beautiful village called Wanagiri. Wana means forest and giri means mountains - and that's what you will find here!
My family used to be farmers until we were displaced from our land. With the help and encouragement from several kind travelers we started hosting backpackers who wanted to explore the rural parts of Bali. We started to run a restaurant, then a guesthouse and a few months ago we got the amazing opportunity to rent our the beautiful villas of a once luxurious hotel.

Wanagiri is on the edge of an ancient volcanic crater overlooking two lakes. There are hidden temples and secluded waterfalls in the surrounding jungles and it seems every time we go for a hike we explore something new. But sadly the people are illegally cutting trees and carry them out of the forest to make a few dollars. We want to show them that the forest is much more valuable as a whole. Our goal is to protect the forests with sustainable tourists so that many more people can explore the beauty of the mountains.

We made hiking maps, experimented with menus for our guests and gave English classes to the kids in the village. We are figuring out ways to recycle and dispose the plastic rubbish, because we believe the plastic problem can only be solved if we start on the top and try to keep the rivers clean.

As our guest you are invited to be part of our family. I live with my wife, Mama Jero, my daughter Koming and our granddaughter Yuna, in the guest house.
