Hello! I’m renting out my library/guest room for folks who like to be surrounded by books. The couch folds out into a twin-sized sleeper and I have a queen air mattress for those who need some extra room. There are dogs and cats in the house. Shared bathroom.

Right off of 395, 10-minute drive into DC without traffic. Lyft or Uber usually runs up to $15 to most downtown locations, averages around $10. Shirlington has the most options for public transportation (about a ten minute walk).

Hello everyone. I’m renting out my library/guest room for folks who like to be surrounded by books of all kinds: Serious Adult Fiction (™) and art books and dime-store novels and comics and mini-comics and puzzle books and random little things like a biography of Vanilla Ice. The couch folds out into a twin-sized sleeper and I have a queen air mattress for those who need some extra room. Sheets and towels will be provided, as will breakfast if you happen to catch me while I’m around on a Saturday morning (you’ll most likely either get some eggs-in-a-hole or french toast or chocolate-cherry pancups, depending on my mood). If I’m not around, you can have full-access to my kitchen or there’ll be Cinnamon Toast Crunch and/or Cracklin’ Oat Brand in the cabinets. Feel free to raid the fridge (within reason!...which I guess isn’t really a raid...more like a polite rummaging), but also feel free to repopulate with some food as you leave (no pressure, tho). I’ll only be renting this room out during days when I’m around since I have two adorable dogs and two wonderful cats (who both stay out of the library/guest room at all times) and I’m sure you’re a wonderful person but, come on, you don’t want to be a pet sitter and I don’t really want to leave my pets around when someone’s crashing at my place.

But you’ll have full access to the kitchen, living room (complete with an X-Box One which, itself, comes with Netflix and HBOGo), and bathroom (it is a shared bathroom - but I'll be out of the house between 8:30AM and 10AM while you're staying here and I'll have a freshly-cleaned robe and slippers for you, as well). You’ll also be provided a key to the back door (which leads directly to the rented room) in case you wanted to come and go with a little privacy. WiFi is a given. And my backyard is pretty big, complete with a hammock, picnic table, grill, bench, etc - feel free to use what you want. The place is kept clean, I have a crew come by every two weeks to keep me in line.

Location? Ok - it’s GREAT if you have a car. Right off of 395, quick 5-to-10 minute drive into downtown DC without traffic. For that reason, it’s also not a terrible Uber or Lyft ride, usually runs around $8-$15 dollars to most downtown locations, and Uber Pool or Lyft Line is routinely less than $10, sometimes as cheap as $5. It’s OK if you need to take public transportation. There are several buses that stop down the block from my house or you can walk down to Shirlington for the most options (about a ten minute walk) - maps will be provided. Shirlington itself is stacked with restaurants and bars and little shops, so it makes for a good late-night, not-ready-to-go-home yet option. And I’m usually heading into the city or at least driving by a metro station so, if our schedules match up, don’t hesitate to tag-along with me.

As for me? I’m a mathematician by day and a comic book editor/writer by night. I tend to spend a good amount of my time in my office - usually being quiet but occasionally pacing. Otherwise, I’m watching some television or sitting out on the front patio with a glass of wine. Feel free to join me - I’d love to hear your story. Or, if you don’t want to talk, you can take a break from the present and use the telescope to stare into the past.

You can come through the front door, into the living room, and be greeted by dogs and a potential guest or four, or through the backdoor, like a ninja. The house has key-less entry, I'll get you a code before you show up. It's pretty simple - enter your code to unlock the door and the lock button to unlock it. Your code will work for the front and back door. On the off-chance the bottom lock is locked, there's a hide-a-key for it in the planter to the right of the door.

If I'm around, and doing something, I'll let you know. If you're into it, or just want to hitch a ride or share a Lyft, it's on.

I live in Nauck, right off of Four Mile Run Drive. A quick walk gets you to Shirlington, which has plenty of bars and restaurants and shops. Also a movie theater and a nice little local theater company. My neighborhood itself is quiet and peaceful. There's a bike path a block away, a brewery and dog park two blocks away. My neighbors tend to be on the quiet side, but there is an occasional birthday party where Go-Go music will be playing for quite some time.

I'm a ten-minute walk to the Shirlington bus hub. There are also several buses that stop down the street from me. Otherwise, it's mainly car and Uber /Lyft friendly. If you've never used Uber or Lyft, I can send you a code for some discounted rides.

Scipio, my little dog, gets a little yappy from time-to-time. I try really hard to keep him quiet. He's full of energy, however.

It's pretty laid back here, so please feel free to mingle on upstairs or sit outside. I have more outside space than inside space. If it ever gets too loud, with dogs or neighbors or even with me, please don't hesitate to let me know. I tend to be up pretty late when I'm against deadlines, but usually in my office. I might occasionally binge watch a new Netflix show until 4AM. Speaking of, if you want me to move the extra TV and X-BOX into your room, let me know. This way you can watch Netflix, Amazon Instant, or HBOGo. If you have any food allergies or dietary restrictions, please let me know. I'll build my meals around it in case you want to partake. Grab a book if you want to read, feel free to write in it or mark it up if it doesn't look too expensive. You'll know which ones are the expensive ones. They tend to be oversized and filled with hundreds of fantastic illustrations. If you let me know what books you like, I'll leave a book on the recommended shelf. It'll probably be a comic book. And the backyard gets some great looks at the sky, so help yourself to the telescope.

While you're here, the downstairs room is all your's. I won't go in there without giving you notice and receiving confirmation, and even that will only be if I really need a book from down there. Outside of any emergencies, of course. The laundry is right next to your room and it's free to use.

One final rule: my dogs and cats are my number ones, they are the sweetest little guys and gals. Avoiding them or being nice to them are the only two options.

The room was clean and comfy, the front door had an e-lock so I could get in and out easily, and Jason was hospitable and friendly. All in all a perfect visit; I wish I could have stayed longer.

A clean place to stay with a host that's totally organized. Every question a person might have is in the blue book next to the couch/bed. :):)
