Leura is the most picturesque village in the Blue Mountains, 100kms from Sydney. Known as 'the garden village', Leura boasts fresh mountain air & stunning natural attractions. Kookaburra Cottage is nestled among the area's scenic wonders, and is an easy 1km walk from the main street - great for browsing antiques, galleries, bookstores and cafes. Our romantic cottage sits within a half acre of stunning garden and is ideal for couples, friends, families (with older kids), & furry friends (pets).
Kookaburra Cottage is a cosy, comforting haven - 1km from Leura Mall and railway station, but a world away from any cares! If you're a city-dweller, the crispness of the air will pleasantly hit you...and the quiet of the street was a surprise to us when we first moved in! The living areas include a more formal loungeroom with large-screen TV and Foxtel if your purpose is to simply veg out (and for teens who can't live without it!), plus a glassed north and east-facing sunroom that's a sun trap to enjoy reading, socialising, playing a board game or for an afternoon snooze! If you're planning to eat in, help yourself to any of the crockery and cooking utensils in the large country-styled kitchen, then enjoy your meal at the formal dining table, or the more casual kitchen nook. There are three bedrooms - two with queen beds and one with a European King, plus a fold out single bed (on request) should you need the kiddy right with you. Plus two bathrooms, one includes clothes washing and drying facilities (if you can be bothered doing that with so much else to do!) In Winter, central heating keeps you cosy when you are not in front of the fireplace, and in warmer months, you'll want to be on the huge deck, high above the garden and trees, just like a treehouse! A Weber BBQ is there for your use because that's what outdoor entertaining demands! We are dog friendly with our own little fur baby...security for your dog is afforded by a child's safety gate at the top of the deck, so your dog can be confined to the deck when not with you inside, and cannot galavant seeking out its own Leura attractions! Springtime sees the garden at its most gorgeous...Kookaburra Cottage is one of the 13 featured gardens in the Leura Garden Festival in the first weeks of October - see (URL HIDDEN) for a detailed description of our garden.
You can have access to all areas of the house - treat it as your own while you're there. The garage will usually be locked, unless you're a gym junkie and would like access to our weights machine (just let us know before your arrival). If reading chills you out, feel free to peruse our book collection in the lounge bookcases...we have loads of great art, decorator, travel and fashion books, plus a great collection on esoteric subjects. You'll find favourite games like Scrabble there too. I will contact you in the week prior to your stay to advise how/where to pick up the house keys.

Altre cose da evidenziare
GARDEN: There is a locked water reservoir/reflection pool on the property, so for safety reasons we do not allow toddlers to pre-teenage children to stay.
FIRE SENSORS: The fire alarm in the hall before the kitchen can be sensitive at times, especially if you burn the toast or something when cooking! If it goes off, grab a broom from the kitchen pantry and use it to reach the large round spot on the ceiling alarm. Once depressed it will stop.
FUSE BOX: Should there be a power surge or outage in the area (which happens very occasionally), or the electrical safety switch trips, you can access the fuse box just outside the kitchen door to the left.
- Child-friendly (12-16 years)
- Smoking allowed (on deck only)
We are a family of four - including Arlo, our PomChi (Pomeranian/Chihouhou), and chihouhou, Patch. We are very house proud and garden enthusiasts, and trust that you will enjoy and respect our home as much as we do. We believe that Kookaburra Cottage provides the ideal setting for a romantic couple's getaway, a place to hang out with a few good friends, or as a base for families with older children to enjoy the many scenic and tourist wonders the mountains affords. Seasons are all very different - from the spectacular Springtime, to the balmy Summer nights and (sometimes) snowy Winters when you can enjoy the Mountains Winterfest activities! Treat it as your home and enjoy!
