Jannet was nice. There was a mix up with my room, but as a person, she was really really nice.
I booked a single room but when I arrived she told me my room wasn't available, so I was given a room with five beds to myself instead. It was a bit of a desolate feeling, not what I was hoping for when I booked what I booked. The hotel is right on top of the collectivo station, so it is really quite loud outside until very late and starting very early.
Also, there was construction at the hotel when I was there... quite loud hammering at 8 or 9pm, just noise noise noise everywhere from all angles, it was quite disappointing and stressful.
Also, the wifi didn't work in my room. I feel really bad writing a bad review, but this place has so many good reviews, and that is why I booked, so I feel obliged.
Everything just seemed overwhelmingly disappointing here.
I had been traveling with groups for work for a few weeks before this and just wanted a couple nights in a single room to unwind but didn't get good rest because it was so loud outside and I had to leave to go to the stairwell or awkward lobby or far-away cafes for wifi, I really would not recommend this place at all for any reason.
There was no atmosphere at this hotel either, it was a very desolate and eerie atmosphere.
Cusco is a city saturated with hospitality, and I see no reason to ever choose this place. Even the TV channels were so staticky that it hurt your ears and eyes.
But I do have to say that Jannet and the staff were really nice people. So I feel bad sharing all this....
But the neighborhood and the noise and beeping horns and lack of wifi in my room and the mixup in my reservation, I would never ever consider staying at this place again.
Overall... it was an extremely noisy neighborhood, and not in a fun way, just stressful, and a very bleak hotel, and not in a relaxing way, just gloomy.
Sorry Jannet , you are so nice, but I hope you understand!
