The Pink Loft looks exactly as it is pictured. The lofted ceiling is gorgeous. There is nobody staying in the first level of the house either, so you have complete privacy. It is clean and has all the modern conveniences including a dishwasher and washer/dryer. We used the well equipped kitchen daily, as it was much cheaper to go to the grocery store and cook your own meals. The bathroom is modern and includes a rain shower head as well as a hand held shower head. Thomas was in contact to check on our needs and we ran into the caretaker a couple of times throughout our stay, as he regularly removed the trash. Check in and check out went very smooth and we had no problems entering the property.
The loft is situated on a busy corner; however, the traffic noise is blocked well by the high quality windows and noise of the air conditioner (which works very well) and the two ceiling fans. There is a gentleman, JJ, who sells fresh conch salad directly in front of the house almost every day from 10:00am-6:00pm; we recommend trying his conch (he adds a pepper for spice if you wish). The loft's deck offered a fantastic view of the harbour, especially at sunset. We often sat on the deck and had coffee or wine in the morning/evening.
There are two grocery stores within walking distance. There is also a very nice wine store, Bristol, that is just around the bay (by where the cargo ships bring in supplies). I also recommend going to Bacchus Fine Foods and Bank's Road Deli, both on Banks Road. They have a good selection of meats, cheeses, and breads to make yourself a charcuterie board. Also, the Friday night fish fry is an easy walk down the street. It is the most activity (aside from Tippy's) that we saw on the island.
It is an easy walk to the Buccaneer restaurant. It is just up the hill, directly across from where the Pink Loft parking is located. They have a nice outdoor deck and the owner, Katherine, is very friendly. Their chicken wings, cracked conch, and fried rice were good. Tippy's is also down the road and has a fun atmosphere with great live music.
The Pink Loft is centrally located and it is easy to explore beaches to the north or south from here. Our favorites were Alabaster (by Cocodimama), Twin Coves (we saw sting rays and nurse sharks), Rainbow Bay (easy to find), and Lighthouse beach is a must. It is also worth checking out The Cliffs (to the north). Print out directions to all of the beaches, as most of them are not easy to find. Make sure to rent a 4 wheel drive SUV also! The back roads have potholes the size of an adult man.
We would love to return and spend more time exploring!
