This is Turrialba's newest house -- completed in January 2016. If you enjoy the natural world, seek a private and secure lodging, and can imagine yourself living with the best view of the pristine Turrialba Valley, you have discovered where to stay. Bordering a natural area reserve this location is perfect for nature lovers, bird watchers, folks wanting peace and beauty but close to Turrialba, only a 25 minute walk to the central park.

L'alloggio

When our son launched his drone and snapped aerial photos of our new home we looked at the pics with awe. We were reassured we had the best location imaginable in the Turrialba Valley. The views are magnificent as we gaze out at a 10,800' Volcan Turrialba smoking away, the quintessential town of Turrialba nestled below us, and to the South -- the distant Talamanca Mountains on the horizon. Not only are we located in Costa Rica's most perfect valley, we have the best proximity to the town center (a 25 minute walk or a short car ride).

For Costa Rica, the 2,700' elevation creates the perfect temperature -- not too hot, light day time breezes and comfortable evenings. Our family was set on creating a space to host student groups, kayakers and our friends. We love the nearby rivers and the many places to explore in the region. Since we discovered the Airbnb web site it meant we could confidently open Casa Cascadia to travelers, like yourself, seeking an independent, authentic, high quality travel experience. We are happy you found us – your reward for taking the path less traveled!

Accesso ospiti

We want to take the mystery out of questions that might come up. We'll start by providing you a planning packet that gives you lots of tips and information on how to enjoy the area and your new home.

Casa Cascadia is located on a private 50 acre tract of land with an upper and lower entry gate. Casa Cascadia occupies two acres on the upper end of the tract. You will enjoy our gardens, fruit trees and landscaping as well as "the terraza", a 550 sq. foot covered outdoor living space for dining, hanging out, exercising or just looking at the view. On the other side of the house is another outdoor space, The Patio, with a bar-b-que and a view into the canyon, a natural preserve and tropical paradise to look for toucans, sloths, and a myriad of birds that pass through.

Interazione con gli ospiti

Upon your arrival Yami Astorga , your Costa Rican host, will meet you. She speaks fluent Spanish and English and will give you an orientation, answer your questions and provide you with resources and ideas for getting the most out of your stay. She will give you the electronic key codes to access the doors and the safe. Yame will be on-call if any concerns come up. You'll enjoy her great laugh and congeniality. She is pictured in the photograph section getting ready to prepare a fruit salad in the kitchen. On occasion her sporty teenage son, Aaron, will appear on his bicycle to help you out as needed.

Altre cose da evidenziare

Inside the house you will find an entryway, two bedrooms, two baths, a living room, huge kitchen / dining room and the 500 sq foot covered outdoor living space (the terraza). The master bedroom is configured with a king size bed, but two single beds in addition to the king bed can be placed if you have a family or clan. The second bedroom can be configured with a king bed or two twins as you wish. The kitchen was designed to prepare meals for international student groups who visit. So, it is fully stocked with everything -- pots, pans, appliances, kitchenware, two large sinks, disposals, microwave, oven, gas range, huge refrigerator. The dining table can seat 8 to 10 folks comfortably and with leafs can be expanded to seat 18. Ratan and zero gravity chairs plus cozy hammocks makes relaxation easy. The living room has a flatscreen TV and DVD player. WiFi is available throughout the property so you can easily hook up your wireless device -- just log in. Also, to enjoy music we have two Grace internet radios whereby you can tune in your favorite podcast or over 3,500 radio stations worldwide. The wash house contains an extra third bathroom, a shower with an outside view as well as a laundry machine to wash your clothes. You might enjoy picking some cilantro from the garden or limes or guava fruit off the trees.
Well, that's an overview, but we'll save up a few secrets for you to discover after you arrive.

Regole della casa

+ Recycle Almost Everything
Costa Rica prides itself in recycling. Labeled bins are found throughout the rancho to deposit paper, plastic, metal and glass.

+ Conserve Energy and Water
Enjoy a nice hot water shower with our “On Demand” hot water heaters. But, to save energy utilize cold water for washing clothes, hands, and dishes as much as possible. Also, conserve water and limit your consumption in a prudent fashion.

+ Lock It Up
Prevention is the key to security. Follow the guidelines for keeping your personal gear safe and locking the doors and windows when you are gone.

+ Pura Vida
We love life as most Costa Ricans do. You will hear a commonly used phrase, “pura vida” used by Costa Ricans to express a philosophy of strong community, resilience in overcoming difficulties, keeping with good spirits, enjoying life slowly, and celebrating good fortune and friends. We take pride in setting the stage for this type of culture we speak of. “Pura Vida!”.
