Not recommended for August to October!!! We stayed Labor Day weekend, which was incredibly hot. The pond was dried up, the lake was not accessible, and finding the river takes a great deal of navigational skill. (we gave up) The maps provided in the cabin are not adequate for navigating the area. Bring your own maps if you can. It's an hour drive up a dirt road, without cell phone. At ~110 degrees, we basically sat in the cabin and drove around with the air conditioner on.... We were certainly glad we weren't camping in a tent, but $150/night for the cabin seemed high. Particularly given there is not much to do this time of year. There is a ceiling fan and a small fan in the kids room. They seemed inadequate given the heat. We brought our own fan, which helped, but sadly we left it in the cabin. Heather was wonderful, when available. She lives on the property, and was very welcoming when we arrived. You definitely need to read the full disclosure listed. The cabin was clean, but the floor is quite slanted, and therefore, so are the beds. It would be lovely in the fall, or spring. It's miserable in the heat. We ended up leaving a day early. (of course the heat is not Heather's fault....)

The cabin was nice and exactly as described. The nearby swimming pond is great, and I would highly recommend it if you'e here during the summer. And Heather was a great host - friendly and helpful.

We enjoyed our stay a lot and will come back! Plan your trip in advance and follow check-in rules - it's better to arrive before the dark, there is no coverage and getting to the ranch can be tricky at night. It's a beautiful place to spend a calm weekend full of nature and relaxation.

The entire trip was a delightful retreat for my husband, daughter and I. The ride up Elk Mountain Road was an adventure but once we were there, Heather helped us nestle into our cabin and find our way around. She was an incredible host! We loved hearing about the history of the lodge and our lil is now very curious about the Wizard of Oz. The cabin was clean, porch area was wonderful for evenings and kitchen co-op was a new experience that I am now a huge fan of. Thank you so much for giving us a relaxing weekend away from home. We can't wait to come back!

An electronics-free haven in the wilderness, this is the place is if you're looking to get away from it all. Heather was a friendly and helpful host and gave us lots of great tips about the area. Highlights were cooking marshmallows over the fire pit, long lake swims and seeing a real live bear in the woods!!!

Heather, thank you so much for your hospitality. My family and I had a beautiful time and look forward to visiting again very soon. It was a sweet escape. We did not want to leave. Each cabin is very unique with alot of character and space. Nice linen and plush comforters. The SugarPine cabin was perfect for a family of four. The co-op kitchen has everything you need and more. Heather had a delicious blood orange syrup for sale, that we enjoyed with pancakes, and a homemade salve. Along with a grill at your cabin. Heather was extremely knowledgeable about the area and took my family down to the polo field to enjoy a spectacular view of the stars. The river water and weather was perfect. Over a 100 degrees but you do get a breeze and you are surrounded by lakes and rivers so its bearable. Thanks again
