Diocletian's Palace - Split
It is located in the old town of Split , and it was built by Emperor Diocletian in the 3rd century . In the Palace is the Cathedral of St. Duje , , the Peristyle , which is extensively updated in recent years . Today is the summer place in that part of many tourist events , programs and events, as Diocletian dinner and evening of traditional music . The value of the Palace, as world cultural heritage recognized by UNESCO itself , which protect it 1979 .

Split is the economic and administrative center of Middle Dalmatia, with about 200,000 inhabitants.

It is also the jumping-off point for exploration of the coast and islands of the beautiful Croatian Adriatic. The site was first settled when, at the end of the third century AD, the Roman Emperor Diocletian built his palace here.

The importance of Diocletian's Palace far transcends local significance because of its level of preservation and the buildings of succeeding historical periods built within its walls, which today form the very heart of old Split.

Split's growth became particularly rapid in the 7th century, when the inhabitants of the destroyed Greek and Roman metropolis Salonae (present-day Solin) took refuge within its walls. The lovely ruins of Solin outside the city can still be explored today. In the Middle Ages, Split was an autonomous commune.

1995 marks an important anniversary year in Dalmatian cultural history. Exactly 1700 years ago, the Roman Emperor Diocletian began building his spectacular palace, where he spent the final years of his life. Diocletian's Palace was strategically constructed on the Adriatic coastline, only four miles from Salona which was the capital of the Roman province of Dalmatia. White limestone was transported to the coast from the rich quarries on the island of Brac. This limestone is recognized as the finest quality in the world and it was used to build the many outstanding structures located in the Palace. One of these structures is the monumental Peristyle, which is among the most magnificent and unique historical courtyards in the world.

Today, the Peristyle captures perfectly the essence of the Diocletian's Palace. It is hang-out spot for the city's youth. Its character is a mixture of living history as well as modern culture. The Palace has molded the personality of down town Split, where most of the city's significant historical building are found as well as its most successful businesses or shops and cafes are located. Diocletian's Palace is one of the most unique architectural and cultural construct in Europe. Thus, its historical and cultural significance far transcends its local importance due to its extraordinary level of preservation.

Beaches around Split

Bene
This beach is on the north-eastern part of Marjan. Partly sandy and on the sides rocky beach is hidden in a pine forest. Filled with numerous additional facilities; a restaurant, tennis courts, playground for children, showers, changing cabins, makes it ideal for families. Only bus number 12 drives directly to this beach, the alternative is by foot.
Next to the beach is a part adapted for the disabled, including a lift aiding the disabled on their way into the sea. This beach is ideal for playing card games, namely traditional "trešeta" and "briškula" usually played by the locals.
Kašjuni
Beach Kašjuni is westernmost of the Marjan hill, and the first beach from the beach Kaštelet western-ward. Popular for families with children. The beach has a deep bay, small pebbles, a Café, and changing cabins.
Bačvice
"We are going to Bačvice…", is tune often heard around the town, words of a joyous hymn to the municipal beach, officially designated as such in 1919. Bačvice is a phenomenon of nature, a sandy beach at the heart of the city, in the vicinity of the city harbor, and it can accommodate over ten thousand people.
During the low tides in springtime Bačvice turn into a split version of Copacabana where many famous soccer players first displayed their talent, where the rugby in Split was born, where even in wintertime a unique game of "picigin" is played (a sort of volleyball, played in the sea shallows with a small ball).
Bačvice today represents a best known promenade for all generations, and during nighttime is the favorite center of nightlife.
Firule
Nobody has the lungomare, a promenade by the sea, like Split! All the way from the arjan peak or the Oceanographic institute you can take a stroll along the sea all to the eastern marine city limits like: Bačvice, Ovčice, Firule, Zenta, Trstenik, Duilovo...
Because of its fine sand and natural shelter Firule have always proven to be especially interesting for mothers with young children. A recreational pilgrimage to Firule grew more popular as the tennis center was organized here. Nikola Pilić, Željko Franulović, Goran Ivaniševic learned their first serves here as well as Mario Ančić and Jelena Kostanić.
Trstenik
Beach Trstenik is on the east side of the city of Split, right next to Zenta and Žnjan beach. Pebble beach with an easy entrance into the sea is ideal for families with children.
Recently renewed part of the Hotel Radisson Blue beach offers its visitors also the possibility of a VIP treatment. Due to the sustainable management the beach has been awarded the Blue Flag.
Žnjan
Beach Žnjan has settled in between beach Trstenik on the west and Duilovo on the east. It became very popular among the citizens of Split with the arrival of John Paul II to Split in 1998.
Besides being an ideal promenade and a leisure destination for the citizens of Split, it thrives with numerous restaurants, bars, cafés, playgrounds, trampolines for children and other facilities.

this was the kind of hospitality you can only dream of when you book an Airbnb. ante was the perfect host. Nothing was too much trouble. We sat on the balcony looking at the sunset eating pizza prepared by ante's mother in her traditional oven, drinking wine from their vineyard and feasting on figs from the garden and homemade bread. it's a short walk down a very steep hill to the sea/shop/restaurants....and a boat ride into the beautiful old city of trogir. I stayed with my mum, sister and 3 year old niece and there was plenty of space, well equipped kitchen, 3 modern bathrooms (fantastic!) and that knockout view. However I think it would be a bit tight for 9 people. We didn't have a car but they helped us get to remote beaches, a hidden chapel on the cliff and back from the beach bar at night. I really can't recommend this place highly enough for the amazing welcome we were recieved. My sister arrived home and immediately booked to come back to Croatia. Testament indeed. Thank you Ante, Maria, Ante Senior and Jelena.

Our stay here was OK. The house is spacious and it has three bathrooms (very important for a group of 8 people). The only problem we had, was with the owners (mother of the owner), who stayed in ground floor. At first, they said that we will be able to use the garden ant the barbecue on our own and that we can even have party there, because nobody is going to be there, but it wasn't like that. As I said, the owners were there and also two more families downstairs, so we couldn't use the garden and the barbecue. Even when we wanted to use it, the mother of the ower didn't let us do it ourselves, she did it. And there was also problem with the AirCondition. We weren't alowed to use the AC all day (outside temperature was +32°C), the mother of the owner was nagging all the time and she was checking us in our appartment. If I sum up: Everithing was OK, except the use of the garden and the barbecue and the old lady in the ground floor. Also, it is far from the sea, 500 m of a very steep path for walking.

Risposta di Ivana:
Dear Mr. Klemen. We are very sorry that you misunderstood the description above the apartment. In the description clearly said, it is a apartment in a private house. There is also another apartment downstairs, which is also rented. Even if it was a private House, there is always need that somebody control such a large group of quests. Each apartment has a printed House Rules, on Six World Languages , where parties are not allowed, particularly because of the other guests as well as the neighbors. Here by, we would like to draw attention to your group, because you put in danger the owner and yourself, when you instead of the agreed number of 8 people ,there was a total of 10 quests, which are not reported to the owner of the House , but you are illegally settled them in the apartment . That could lead to a payment penalty for the owners and for you. Your anger is not justified , because you thought that it was the whole house available, and you intention was to bring more people that is not agreed . I recommend caution with such guests as it brings more people than what was agreed and what the facility can accommodate. -The Apartment "Kadulja" is located in the house where there is another apartment that is rented - there are not allowed to leave the air conditioner 24 hours on, when the windows are open - Not allowed to bring more people in the apartment to sleep, than it is reserved - If the owner suspected of illegally staying in the apartment more than one person, he has right to check the quests - Garden and grill can be used Max 8 people,as there are in the apartment - Are not allowed to make party, which will invite people who are not registered as guests in the apartment without the owner's permission - House is not on the beach , it is 300 meters from the sea ( according to official dat
