Descrizione

L'alloggio

During winter it's a great location to avoid the crowds of the Tahoe area and is great for cross country skiing, snow shoeing, snowmobiling, or sledding with the family. Or just relax by the cozy fire. Borrow our snowshoes and poles or our sleds and have some fun.

New: you may borrow our kayak to enjoy on the lakes nearby (not the river). Fits two adults and a child or dog. Please arrange for the kayak ahead of time if interested.

Enjoy time on the riverside deck, fish on the river below, and sleep to the relaxing sound of the river. Enjoy the restaurants in the picturesque mining town of Sierra City or Downieville or buy groceries at the local Country Store and cook or barbecue at the cabin. Ride your bikes around town, ride the single tracks on your mountain bike, or ride your road bike up Gold Lake Road along many gorgeous lakes.

Check out our low weekly pricing - may be better to spend a week - there is lots of see and do in the area. Telecommute from the cabin for a few days while the rest of your family enjoys a longer vacation.

There are two bedrooms and two full bathrooms. One king bed, one queen bed, and a queen size air mattress that can go in either room or the living room. One bathroom has a shower, the other has both a bathtub and a shower. The second bedroom has a private entrance to the hall bathroom. Living space is about 1200 square feet.

The TV is set up with a ROKU box and both Netflix and Amazon Prime Video subscriptions so you can enjoy great movies, TV shows, news, weather, and music. There is no cable TV. Plug your iPod or other music player to the stereo system or the available portable iPod player. DVD, VHS, CD, and Cassette players are also available.

You are welcome to use the gas barbecue on the back deck facing the river and the washer and dryer in the hall bath. Connect your phones and laptops to our WiFi network for fast internet connectivity.

The cabin is in a quiet, riverside neighborhood at the end of the paved road. The next door neighbors are rarely home as they don't live in town. There are no neighbors across the river (just the National Forest). Neighbors enjoy taking a walk to the to the campground a mile away, along the river. The picturesque mining town is only a mile away with places to eat or shop.

There is plenty of parking on our driveway. To get around, most people walk, drive, or ride their bikes. Kayaking is the favorite mode of transportation in the lakes : )

Accesso ospiti

Guests have access to the whole cabin, except the garage.

Interazione con gli ospiti

I live in the Bay Area and will interact via messages or via phone. At your option, I can interact a lot or very little. I'm happy to help you plan your vacation before your trip, and help you with anything you might need during the trip such as what to do in the area. I also have very complete guides of the area and the cabin which I will email you ahead of your trip. If necessary, our housekeeper can also interact with you, locally.

NOTES:

For holidays or weekends from June to October we have a 3 night minimum (except with short notice if the dates are still available or if only 2 nights available on the calendar)

In cases where we have another guest checking in or out on the same day, I need to check our housekeeper's schedule before confirming your reservation request. If our housekeeper's schedule requires a later check-in time or earlier checkout time, I will check with you before confirming your booking. Sorry for this inconvenience. On the positive side, we often have flexible checkin/checkout times if our housekeeper's schedule allows it.

The cabin, including its decor, is from the 60s. Most of our guests appreciate the "vintage" look. Just note it's not a modern home. We have formica and linoleum. We don't have a dishwasher or a garbage disposal.

My husband, I and our Alaskan Malamute spent an extended Memorial Day weekend in this clean, comfortable cabin in a beautiful private setting with access to the majestic Sierra Buttes and Lakes Basin regions of the Sierras. Francisco was communicative, accommodating and very welcoming the entire time. The kitchen is well-equipped with a fabulous view of the Sierra Buttes from the dining area, and we enjoyed the sights and sounds of the Yuba River during happy hour out on the back deck after hiking all day, followed by bat-gazing through the sliding glass doors at dusk while we lounged on the comfy recliners in the living room. The bed in the master bedroom was very comfortable and we slept like babies with the sound of the river outside the window. Francisco's detailed, well-written visitors' manual helped us feel right at home while we navigated the quaint features of the cabin, and gave us useful suggestions for exploring the great outdoors. This place is a gem for one or two couples or a small family who want to enjoy all the area has to offer.

This is the second time I've stayed here. We had two babies in our party. Sierra city was awesome for some low key family fun in the snow without the crowds of Tahoe. We grilled some burgers on the porch, drank hot chocolate, played cards, and watched movies on netflix while the babies slept. The river right outside makes for a very relaxing getaway.

My family and I stayed at Francisco's place for a long weekend in the winter. It was a great way to introduce our young kids to fun in the snow. The cabin was cozy, comfortable and well equipped and the location is quiet and private. Francisco was very communicative and helpful throughout our whole stay. Would stay here again!

Francisco was an excellent host-very communicative and responsive. Our stay was so comfortable and relaxing, with everything we needed and more. Very clean, comfy beds, beautiful location, easy to find, right on the river, close to amazing hiking, mountain biking, camping, fishing, swimming, etc. Perfect for a relaxing getaway or as a base camp for amazing adventures.

Francisco was a great host and available immediately if you need help. This cabin is in such a beautiful area, Nature is all around and you can explore either hiking the Pacific Crest Trail or enjoying the many small lakes around the buttes. My husband/son went mountain biking on downeyville classic. World class biking. The cabin was built in 1950 so it's not modern but very cute and functional. We enjoyed the wifi. Be sure to bring your own groceries as the town is extremely small with only a convenience store nearby. A great place to unwind from the fast paced world!

I grew up in Honduras and live in the San Francisco Bay Area where I went to college and where I lead the marketing team for a cool mobile startup. I love the outdoors and frequently go sailing in the bay where I'm a volunteer instructor. I enjoy cycling especially up Mt. Diablo and Gold Lake Road. I'm married to an American, have two teenage daughters and a dog. I like to travel and enjoy meeting interesting people as a guest and as a host. I am a big fan of sharing services such as Airbnb, Turo, and Uber.
