Spectacular views over Kinder Scout and the Peak District from one room and over peaceful fields from the other. This is a smart terraced cottage, cosy, stylish and with vintage charm. Real fires, flagged floors and a pretty garden. 5 mins from village centre, stations, and decent pubs. Festivals, music/art events abound! Occasionally I can let the whole house.
The house had been unchanged for 100 years when I made it my home and over the years I've tried to add 'modern conveniences' sympathetically without disrupting the old charm of how I found it. The house therefore has many original features such as, flagged and wooden floors, cast-iron fireplaces in all the rooms and some of the original wallpaper, but it does now have a washing machine in the cellar, a power shower and central heating! The bedrooms are spacious and very peaceful and on the same floor as the shared bathroom. The blue room is quiet and cosy and has a view across the field at the back.
Guests are welcome to use the cosy front room with wood-burner, TV, chess and board games for rainy days. Though most folk like to bring their own or go out for breakfast, there's usually basic items here that guests are welcome to use- cereal, bread, eggs tea and coffee etc. If you do need to use cooking and washing facilities at any point just chat to me when you arrive. There's a cobbled semi-communal area outside the back door to sit (afternoon and evening sun) and a peaceful garden with a stream, fruit trees and dry stone walls overlooking the fields beyond. Out the front (which gets the morning sun) there is a raised garden with a flagged area to sit. Bikes could possibly be housed in the stone shed outside or in the cellar by negotiation.

I generally leave guests to their own devices as I am often quite busy myself, but I do occasionally have a drink or a game of scrabble if I'm about! I'm a very sociable chap and always happy to give advice regarding the local area and can point you in the direction of walks, cultural highlights, local attractions, where to eat, and how to get there. I also have a long term lodger Owen in a flat on the top floor. He's lovely, quiet, comes and goes, but is similarly really happy to help you out when and where you need it - and he's a dab hand with getting the wood-burner going!
Altre cose da evidenziare
I have some fantastic and unusual artwork in the house which I love but might not suit the very easily offended!
This is a relaxed house and I'm quite easy going. It's a lovely old place - a bit quirky and so needs some TLC at times. But no special rules. I guess just treat as your own, leave the house as you find it, and replace any breakages. Most importantly- enjoy your stay!
