My wife and I and another couple recently spent two relaxing nights at John's lovely secluded cottage on Lahave Island. Booking was easy and straightforward, no issues. Once booked, John clearly communicated arrangements for our arrival and also sent his mobile number and an alternate number in-case of any immediate issues came-up. He also promptly answered a couple of our questions regarding security and safety with a heavy storm was forecasted to move through the area during our stay, ensuring us his cottage had withstood worse and was properly built and weather-proofed. Our arrival was mostly straightforward, although the house address could be more clearly marked from the main road as there are many other cottage dirt roads in the area, leading to a few moments of confusion and a brief trip down someone else's driveway. Once arrived, the cottage was exactly as depicted in the description and photos. It is perfectly equipped and highly functional. The kitchen is well equipped. We cooked 5 meals during our stay using most of the provided appliances including stovetop, oven, coffeepot, toaster, refrigerator, as well as the varied assortment of pots, pans, casseroles, cutlery, bowls, plates, cups, tumblers, wine glasses, etc. The wifi was adequate for checking emails and quick internet searches. The cottage has several comfortable spaces to relax together or separately, including a porch area with built-in bench seats and a large stack of pillows, the main living room with couch, and comfy chairs, and a large kitchen table, where we spent most of our time playing games and chatting. Although we only spent a few minutes outside due to rain and heavy wind, there is a gravel fire pit and large deck on the front with panoramic views of the bay and other islands. Both bedrooms are comfortable, and private, as was the single bathroom. The nautical themed decor throughout is perfectly tasteful and cozy. Overall, if I had a cottage to share with others, everything provided is pretty much what I would strive to achieve. I hope to return again, perhaps during the summer to explore the surrounding bays and islands by sea kayak. There is a boat launch immediately in front.
