Descrizione

Built (1966) by General Sir John Hackett , this house occupies a stunning location overlooking the Loughrous Point estuary. It accommodates up to 8 people and provides an ideal base for exploring south-west Donegal. Complete privacy and tranquility

The house is situated on a small hill overlooking Loughrous Point estuary, some 10 minutes from Ardara. Ardara is a bustling small town, typical of south-west Donegal and with a good choice of shops, small supermarkets, post office and bank. Nancy's pub with its renowned seafood menu is a great favourite with locals and tourists alike.
The house itself has outstanding views of the estuary and is totally private and secluded with a garden sloping down to the sea.
Accommodations is for up to eight people. There are three double bedrooms, one with an en-suite bathroom, and one with two single bunk beds.
Virtually no traffic on the lane outside gives guests complete tranquility and rest.
The remainder of the accommodation comprises a spacious and light kitchen fitted with an electric hob, oven, dishwasher, fridge, microwave and other smaller items such as a toaster and kettle. A small utility room and washing machine lie just off the kitchen.
There is also one more bathroom for the remaining three bedrooms and an inside lobby and toilet just to the right of the back door.
The living room has a working fireplace, comfortable settees and and an astounding 90o view of the estuary. A door leading from the living room opens directly onto the front lawn garden
More mature trees and a section of wild garden lie to the rear of the property where there is good parking space. The entrance is via a small drive flanked by two iron gates.
All linen, fuel and heating are included in the rental; the house has a good, oil-fired central heating system.

Guets have access to the entire house except the garage which is kept locked. Any couples will naturally select just one bedroom and bathroom for their use.

You will be welcomed at the property by Allaye, who manages the property for the owner, and this will be your contact in the event of any problems.

The surrounding area is full of possibilities for hiking, surfing, pony tracking, cycling and exploring. From the renowned cliffs at Slieve League to the local delights of Ardara town and Maghera beach, there is an absolute wealth of outdoor adventure and life.
For those interested in traditional music, sessions run on a nightly basis in the Ceili House pub in Ardara, in the Beehive on Friday nights and on most nights throughout the summer in the Corner House. Apart from Nancy's pub with its famous seafood menu, there are a number of other good cafes and hotel menus available.
Ardara is known as the town of festivals... it is a lively, friendly place which aims to make the visiting tourist feel very welcome.

Access by public transport can be limited. Although there is a good bus service up to the town from Dublin airport, visitors without a car would be dependant on the local taxi service in order to reach the house and come back into town. It is expected that most people will have their own transport.

Unfortunately, the surrounding fields which are grazed by sheep, mean that dogs cannot be accepted.

Great 'off the beaten path' spot. Inside is very accommodating, clean and spacious . Outside is wonderful..... From the quiet meadows of sheep, the sandbars in the inlet, waves breaking beyond, to the rolling hills leading out to land's end..... It's all just beautiful !!

Clean well cared for cottage in a location which is off the beaten track but still a great location. A gorgeous beach is a 30 minute walk with incredible views the entire way. It has working fireplace with a fire laid. No wifi but the tv works well and has cable. Every room has views. You are surrounded by sheep, rabbits romp in the yard. The yard is great for children. From the house you can see the waterfall across the water plus the caves. Well worth a drive. The beach at the caves is incredible. It is a about an 8 minute drive into town. Milk newspapers and other supplies can be purchased at the failrly well stocked Texaco. Bring your own fresh fruits, vegetables and baking supplies. The SlieveLeague cliffs are spectacular. When u get there go thru the closed gates to the top car park.we also went to kellybegs to buy some fresh fish to cook. A butchersent us to a wholesaler that allowed us to buy some delicious whiting.. No fish markets around . Glenveaugh national park is about 75 minutes away. Gorgeous. Try to buy tickets for castle tour online they often sellout. We did not have a good meal at nancys pub. No mussels slow service and very mediocre food. The oysters however wereterrific as was the Guinness beef stew The tweed outlet past Texaco on opposite side sells sweaters and tweed clothing including an excellent selection of tweeds by the yard . Loved our stay in spite of the daily showers .

We all had a cracking time. The house accommodated the five of us very comfortably. Never had to wait for a bathroom to become free or share a bed with a friend. Fireplace, big windows, family-sized kitchen, made some good dinners. The surrounding area was fantastic, lovely walks, beautiful scenery.

Allaye was wonderful helping Connell out. The house was fantastic. We had a great time. Everything was perfect. And, if we ever go back to Ireland, this would be my destination.

Despite web based complications, our lovely host was patient and helpful throughout the process. Warm friendly welcome, beautiful setting, well equipped house, we couldn't find fault. The house is spacious and spotless in a tranquil and undisturbed location, we will never forget it. Highly recommended for couples, families, anyone really, but a car is a must.
