Our newest addition to the Tweefontein Herb Farm Paradise rooms. This beautiful & rustic lofted space has tons of character and is our most spacious room with it's own wood pellet stove for heating, space for yoga & a reading nook.
The Tweefontein Farmhouse was built in the late 1700's as a dairy farm and was later used to house aqueduct workers. In the 1980's the property was acquired by Ann Salomon who transformed the property into an herb farm and gave it the name Tweefontein, named for the two springs on the property. Now the farm is cooperatively run by a group of four who are passionate about continuing what Ann started and working in harmony with Mother Earth.
The Lotus suite is more than three times larger than our other guest rooms. There is a lofted space above the first king size bed with another king size bed which can be used for additional relax space, reading, or just for additional guests. Both mattresses are super comfy, pillow top mattresses. This room can was designed to accommodate 2 guests but could potentially accomodate one or two more persons if they did not mind the smallness of the lofted space. Please be aware that the lofted space is accessed by the ladder shown and is only the size of a king size mattress and does not have very high ceilings or a railing (see pic) The pellet stove heats the room in minutes and the extra heat and hardwood floors are great for anyone wishing to use the room for their yoga practice.
Guests can explore the property, meditate in the meditation room, or get their hands dirty in the gardens! We're always open to sharing homesteading skills we have acquired. On a typical day we're weeding, planting, brewing tea, composting, making home cooked meals and beautifying the land. There are also several artists in the house so you might hear our musical gifts or see an artist in action and we hope the creative energy we generate inspires you too!

Altre cose da evidenziare
This is an old farm house -- amenities are not all modern. We do not have TV or cable, but we like it that way. The bathrooms are just the essentials! If you stay here be prepared to unplug from the distractions!
We do have Wi-Fi and cell phone service seems to work just fine for all the major providers.
The Tweefontein farmhouse is over 200 years old! Many of the fixtures, doorknobs, window panes, and floor boards are original. We love the history that the house tells, and wouldn't have it any other way. However please make sure you understand this before you book! This is an old house! If you have never experienced staying in an old farmhouse make sure you understand that it is an experience in itself!
Heating: The house is well heated, and each room has it's own space heater so that the temperature can further be controlled to your liking.
Water: Like many of the houses and farms in the area, the Tweefontein house has well water that has sulpher in it. The water runs through a high tech UV filtration system and is very clean but it does has a distinct smell if you are not used to it. We always provide a cooler of mountain spring water for you.
Last but not least, this is homestead and herb farm, first and foremost. The members living here are dedicated to making herbal remedies, growing food and vegetables, and taking time to reconnect with ancient roots and living in an altogether different and empowered way. We recognize a problem with our food system, with the way that big agriculture operates and feel that the purity of food an medicine will be protected only by the small farms and individuals who will not adopt the corrupt and dangerous systems that are mainstream in food production today. And we are a passionate group of individuals! This means that if you chose to stay at the farm you may see us working, making medicine, cleaning roots, preparing remedies etc... this is a small but fully functioning farm!
