Live like a local in this renovated 1700s house, where history is combined with modern luxury. Unique location in quiet garden, only two minutes from Bryggen. Here you have tourist attractions, restaurants and bars at the tips of your fingers.

Although you are in the middle of the city, you will be amazed at how quiet this house is. The location is less than two minutes walk from Bryggen, but it is located in an alley with back-access to a beautiful, communal garden.

The oldest part of the house is from the 1700s. Parts of the original construction is visible in the exposed beams in the living room and the original wall in the kitchen - where patches of wallpaper from two centuries ago are still clinging to the logs. The beams are also exposed in the ceilings in the first floor to give maximum headroom.

You enter the house through a narrow alley into a small, closed-off courtyard, where you can have your morning coffee at the table in the patio.
The first floor has a bathroom, a hallway and a bedroom. All rooms here have heated floors. The bathroom was renovated recently with Italian marble tiles. It also has a washing machine which you are welcome to use.
The bedroom has a comfortable double bed, and a big, walk-in closet were there is plenty of space for your luggage and clothes. There is a door to the garden from the bedroom.

Upstairs is a big open space with high ceilings, and skylight windows. There is a brand-new kitchen, a dining area, and living room. The kitchen is well-equipped, in a clean and minimalistic Danish design with all amenities, and lots of counterspace, should you want to cook dinner at home. There is a cool dining table made from an old ship crate, with windows facing the garden. From the windows you can see the spires of Mariakirken, the oldest church in Bergen. It was built in the 1100s, and was recently renovated beautifully.

The living room has a sofa mattress that can be turned into a single bed. It is a proper mattress that is very comfortable. There is also a TV with English-language news channels and Netflix.

From the living room there is a ladder to the cozy sleeping loft/mini-library, where there is a single bed. From the window you can see across the rooftops of Bergen. This is a comfortable space to sleep for one person - perfect for a teenager or a nimble adult. The max headroom here is about 1,30 meters, so it is not suitable for people who are physically impaired.

The garden is shared, but it is big enough so that you can find your own private space. In the summer it is filled with flowers, and is a lovely place to hang out. There are tables and chairs where you can have lunch or dinner, or sit in the sun. In spring you can watch local birds fight for space in the huge birch tree for their nests. There are also some old fruit trees left over from the time this was a fruit garden for the neighborhood, so if you come at the right time of year, you can pick apples and berries for your breakfast!

Welcome to our home, we hope you will enjoy it as much as we do.

The house is located in a pedestrian street in one of the historic , narrow alleys of Bergen. This is the oldest area of the city, where the original buildings have been preserved and renovated. It is today one of the most expensive and sought-after neighborhoods in Bergen, both because of its history, and for its charm and proximity to the city. You can wander through a maze of wooden houses and winding alleys up towards the old Skansen fire station, where you have a beautiful view of the harbour.

There are also a lot of nice cafees and restaurants, ranging from cheap to exclusive. The best sushi restaurant in Bergen, Nama, is only two minutes from the house. Two of the most popular nightclubs are also close by, and the funicular to Fløyen is about a three minutes walk. If you prefer, you can walk from the house to the restaurant at the top of mount Fløyen in about 45 minutes.

The house is 25 minutes from the airport. It is possible to take the airport bus or a taxi. It is a 3 minutes walk from the bus to the house. The railway station is 10 minutes walk away.
