Newly built (2016)! Cheerful and welcoming 1 BR, 1 bathroom garden apartment nestled between Mt. Princeton & the Chalk Cliffs and Mt. Antero sleeps 2 in queen bed. Accessible year round. Outdoor-lovers' playground & 3 mi from Hot Springs.

Ground level, 1 queen bed, 2 twin love seats in living room.
Kitchen has a range, microwave, dishwasher, coffee pot, full-sized fridge, dishes for 4 and all the basics for cooking. Tile bathroom and shower with separate water closet make this apartment practical and clean.
Sunny Southern exposure warms this small space to be the perfect retreat. Enjoy 10 acres of lovely space, pristine air, delicious well water, and mountain refreshment.
Basic supplies such as toilet paper, towels, some basic spices, and bedding are present.
Outdoor living space on the South and East sides of the Inn, below the covered deck.
Parking area just North of the shed, near the mining equipment.
The Hall of the Mountain King is the original cabin upstairs and is also available for rent (which sleeps 4-6). It is a completely separate living space and entrance.
This is a chance to completely unwind and leave your daily stress behind as there is no Internet or TV. There is a land phone to receive calls and make local calls. A calling card is needed (the card's number is provided) for long distance.
We have left you a notebook with brochures and further information.

Ground level accessibility and plowed County Road makes this typically available year-round. CR 162 is well maintained in the Winter. Be on the look out for dear & wildlife year round. 4wd and high clearance vehicles are always recommended in the Winter/Spring in Colorado since weather is unpredictable. Switching into 4 WD before entering the driveway is advised in deep snow conditions. We will leave keys in a lock box or designated area (which we will communicate before your stay).

We are a phone call away and happy to help in any way we can. To call us from the cabin phone, you will need to use the long distance calling card (instructions provided). You can text or email from the Mt. Princeton Hot Springs (3 miles East). Mobile phone reception begins a couple miles east of the Mount Princeton Hot Springs resort. There is an information notebook with lots of information about hiking, biking, dining, art, rafting, shopping, etc. We work at REMAX in Buena Vista & are readily available to help you with questions or anything you need.

This is a place to relax, unwind, listen to the birds, hear the breeze and the Chalk Creek just South of us. Or, head down the road for a great meal, a massage and a dip in the hot springs. For adventure, head up the road to St. Elmo ghost town, stroll to nearby lakes or the Chalk Creek, hike, bike or ski in the mountains, go to Salida or BV to see the Arkansas River....these all await you.
The area is known for friendly people, biking, hiking, climbing 14,000+ foot mountains (Mt. Princeton to the North is 14,196' and Mt. Antero to the South is 14,275'), horseback riding, whitewater rafting, kayaking (find kayak parks in Buena Vista and Salida), XC skiing, downhill skiing (less than an hour to Ski Cooper and Monarch) ATVing, snowmobiling, bird watching, hot springs, live music, art, and more. There are 4 nearby breweries and 2 whiskey distilleries. Leadville hosts extreme sports such as the Leadville 100 as well as boasting of a groomed path in the winter for skate skiing on the Mineral Belt (wonderful for biking in the summer) or enjoy a ski to hut experience at the Tennessee Pass Cookhouse.
Let us know if you need more space and would like to rent the upstairs cabin, The Hall of the Mountain King which sleeps 4 in bedrooms (2 more on a double futon in the living room for additional $10./night ea). Both living spaces are completely separate with separate entrances.

100 miles from Colorado Springs. 150 miles from Denver. 3 miles West of the Mt. Princeton Hot Springs Resort. Half a mile West of the Colorado Trail Chalk CreekTrailhead. Half a mile East of the Bighorn Sheep Wildlife viewing and Chalk Creek campground. 9 miles to St. Elmo Ghost town. 16 miles to Buena Vista, 24 miles to Salida, 40 miles to Leadville. There is no public transportation in Chaffee, Park or Lake counties.

Be prepared for high altitude (drink lots of water; minimize alcohol & caffeine). Be prepared for all weather and pack layers. Be prepared for sun in both summer AND winter and wear sunscreen even on cloudy days. Don't forget slippers for inside; flip flops, bathing suits & towels for the hot springs. In the Spring, there are tics in the wooded areas. Bring repellant and check yourself and each other before coming indoors.

Please treat our beloved family cabin respectfully as you would your own home.
Conserve water, clean up after yourselves, wash & put away dishes before leaving (or start the dishwasher), take all perishables, bag your garbage/recycle & leave it secured inside near the front door.
There is a dishwasher but no garbage disposal because it is a septic system. Please wipe dishes well and do not let debris go into the drain.
Never feed or approach wildlife.
No pets due to so many guests' allergies.
No hunting, smoking, fireworks, or fires inside or out due to the high fire danger.

We made Colorado our home in 1985, raising our kids with the fresh air and adventure of the Collegiate Peaks. We have traveled all over the world & love to experience new cultures and destinations with Airbnb hosts. Still, this mountain home always calls us back to get recharged. Along with our two adult children, we've enjoyed Chaffee County the most of all our Colorado destinations. We love the outdoors. Our huge deck is a testament to that. We enjoy hiking, biking, rafting, kayaking, xc skiing and telemarking the hut system, bird watching, gardening, geocaching, ATVing, reading, yoga, music, exploring new places, learning new things and meeting new people. We are both REALTORS in Buena Vista with RE/MAX and would love to take you around to help you fulfill your dream of owning mountain property. It's better in Bueney! When you come visit, look us up at RE/MAX office at the stop light in Buena Vista (12 miles away). Pure Vida! Blessings! Namaste! and Aloha!
