Grade II listed former manor house, 300 yards from unspoiled beaches in a traditional mining village. Situated on the Cleveland Way, there is no commercialism but lots of history: from saxon treasure found in the hills to smuggling and pigeon racing!
Skinningrove is a working village, meaning it less well known than the nearby tourist traps of Staithes, Whitby and Saltburn. However it is as rich in charm and culture as its neighbours. The local beach has been listed in 'The 20 best hidden beaches in the UK', published in the Telegraph in July 2015, due to its staggering cliffs and natural, dog-friendly sands. Pigeon lofts can be seen on the nearby hills and the Mining museum is definitely worth a visit. The village is situated in between Saltburn and Staithes, positioning it perfectly for walks along the cliffs, overlooking the coastline.
We are situated a few metres from the Cleveland Way, a National Trail, and are therefore accessible by foot from there. If however, you are not an avid walker, the closest train station is in Saltburn and there are bus connections running from Whitby-Loftus and Skinningrove-Saltburn. The most convenient way to reach us is by car and we provide free parking to guests.
