Went there with a group of friends - Loved the property. We were treated like family & the caretaker Mr. Babuchan & his wife were very accommodating & helpful. The food made was extremely fresh & delicious. Location : It's easily accessible by road. It's an amazing property right by the side of backwaters, you can just walk or use a country boat to reach the nearby beach. Place has lots of sit out areas, a private beach on backwaters, abundant parking space & good dining area. House: It's a traditional Kerala house with decent facilities. But being secluded you might find a bug or two due to the surrounding wilderness. Shouldn't be a big problem considering it's close to nature & very peaceful. Food: We enjoyed the home made delicacies like Currymeen fish, crabs, prawns etc., vegetarian options however were limited which is a common issue in Kerala cuisine. Food was chargeable separately though at a moderate fee. Host: Siddharth was very responsive & was in touch with us proactively. The caretakers were also very kind & helpful. Nearby places : Apart from the beach & church at a walkable distance, Marari beach is a 15 min drive, Allepey & the houseboats are about an hour away. There are also many good 4 star resorts like Marari beach resort etc., for day trips / meals etc. We will definitely return & stay here if we visit this area of Kerala again!
My family and I had a lovely stay here for two night. We were treated like family and everything we needed was taken care of without issue. It was nice to take a walk through the small village and to the fisherman's beach. A much more true and authentic way to see everyday life then being in a resort. The home cooked food provided for a small fee was great and just what we needed after eating at restaurants for a few days. I'm a cook and even asked for a cooking lesson from their helper (great cook), which was really cool as I like to pick up recipes from the places I travel. We asked them to make some specific things for my son who is 8 and picky with food. This wan't a problem. Nothing but nice things to say and fond memories of this stay. If you are taking a taxi make sure that you have their phone number as it can be tricky to find. Recommended and would stay here again!
Though the hosts were wonderful and caring but the overall experience was not as expected. since the place is very natural with trees, plants and backwater, dealing with insects became a pain. The place needs to up-the-standard for living for the amount of money charged. The food provided is chargeable which is not communicated in the listing nor mentioned at time of check-in
The accommodation is located near to the beach (hardly a 5mins walk) along with a private beach of their own. You are here not for leisure but to amalgamate with the serenity of nature. The hosts are very warm and welcoming, they were up to the service and help, as and when needed. Also, some amazing home cooked meals. I'm glad I chose to stay here with my family. Though I believe you must include a breakfast and must indicate the prices for the meals at home stay. Other than that everything is as per the listing. See you soon Chekkal's!
