We're on a mission. We want to connect with backpackers, canoeists, hikers - all adventure seekers - and show them a great time here at the edge of Algonquin Park!

The Backpacker's Bunk is an experimental hostel part of Camp Bongopix - Whitney's newest and wackiest accommodations. It's perfect for all adventure seekers who flock to Algonquin Park. We love Airbnb and its travel philosophy so staying here you'll have a chance to hang out with other Algonquin Park Airbnb travelers.

We are extremely active hosts and we want to make sure that everyone who stays here will enjoy our hosting style. When you request to stay please tell us about yourself, why you want to stay here, and please include a thoughtful Airbnb profile. We get lots of requests and so these steps will help your inquiry stand out!

This listing includes one private room with a queen bed plus bathroom. Towels, pillows, soap and bedding is included. You also get free access to the COMMON ROOM - a vibrant space to relax after a long day of hiking. It is a shared space. Your private room is very basic so that guests are encouraged to mingle and hang out at the Common Room.

The Common Room includes: retro Hi-Fi turntable stereo, Arcade video game table, and a TV + VHS collection of movies. It is retro heaven! Board games are also included.

On busy weekends Bongo Mike and Andrea host events/parties at the Common Room and all guests are invited to join! If the weather is mild or warm then we always have a campfire with guitars, stories, marshmallows and drinks.

Snowshoes can be rented for $10 per day per pair. In the canoe season canoes rentals are $20 per day.

Access to the Common Room, all of our property including our water front!

We are EXTREMELY OUTGOING. We love meeting new people, exchanging stories, and sharing laughter. We have bonfires often and we like to gather all of our guests together. We promote a social atmosphere and we also encourage all of our guests to mingle with each other. Our favourite activity is to talk about Algonquin Park (Andrea works in Algonquin Park) and play music with our guests. Mike is a professional photographer so if you like photography let him know - he's always eager for nerdy photography chats! We are FULL of recommendations for activities if you have questions about what to do!!!

Whitney is the closest town to Algonquin Park. We are also within walking distance of a grocery store, beer store, pizzeria, pub, breakfast diner, and gas station. You can also find hiking trails within walking distance of the Backpacker's Bunk.

Whitney is a very walkable town - getting to Whitney can be tricky without a car though. Having your own car is most ideal but if you want to travel here without a car please let us know and we can arrange to pick you up from Huntsville for a very reasonable fee.

We do not enforce "quiet hours." Campfire sing-a-longs go as long as the energy lasts. We have a "let the good times roll" philosophy when it comes to late night noise. The Bunk is designed to encourage you to meet, mix and mingle with fellow Algonquin Park adventurers. For this reason we do not have a noise curfew. If you are a light sleeper then we recommend to bring ear plugs. We have a live music jam every Saturday night beginning at 8pm. On a busy weekend the music can go as late as 1am-2am... so let the good times roll!

During busy weekends the Backpacker's Bunk has a hostel or "university dorm" atmosphere. For this reason it is best suited for younger and energetic travelers who want to mingle and hang out with other travelers. We allow dogs but we do not allow children. If you are a very light sleeper bringing ear plugs would be a good idea.

We are a fun-loving couple who spend as much time as possible outdoors. We love a lot about life, but we especially love the following: camping, portaging, canoeing, hiking, kayaking, hockey, backpacking, biking, swimming, bonfires, board games, retro video games (diehard Nintendo geeks), and music. We live life to the fullest and we especially love winter! We're seasoned Algonquin Park campers and would love to introduce you to this special area.

About Us As Hosts:
We are 100% experiential hosts, and we wear our Superhost badge very proudly! We like to share stories, build bonfires, and give tips on how to best enjoy the beautiful area in which we live. We are passionate about our little town, and our mission is to provide a truly unique travel experience. We are very outgoing and like to play guitar and have a good old fashioned Canadian bonfire in the evenings. This means that we are up late some nights - if you're looking for a totally calm, quiet, and solitary experience, we might not be 100% up your alley! We encourage and foster social interaction with other guests on a daily basis. We want to build friendships between our guests as well.

We are fully committed to the Airbnb philosophy and we pride ourselves on accepting true Airbnb travelers. If you're new to Airbnb - that's cool! You gotta start somewhere! We accept new users all the time. Please remember though: we receive a lot of requests every day, and there can sometimes be multiple inquiries for the same dates. This means that we tend to decline people who haven't put in a lot of effort into their profile/message, and instead we will accept people who have taken the time to write us a thoughtful note and have a more complete profile. So please keep this in mind when you send a request! If you want to stand out and make us excited, tell us what specifically you like about our listing and why you want to hang out with us! We want to make sure that every single person who comes to stay with us at Camp Bongopix will be comfortable with our no-frills, social cabins, and will get the most out of their time here.

About Us As Guests:
We love everything quirky, unique, and off the beaten path! We are always keen to socialize with other hosts, but we're also great on our own to explore new things. We're mindful that booking through Airbnb is an invitation into someone's life and personal space; we're always respectful and flattered when someone opens their doors to us!

Hope to see you soon, eh!
