We'll visit the amazing Walthamstow Wetlands, the capital's largest urban wetland nature reserve, providing a special home to many important water birds and other wildlife species. The Walthamstow Marsh Nature Reserve encompasses 10 large reservoirs, which deliver water to 3.5 million Thames Water customers.

We will continue walking along the river, following the Lea valley Walk route. We'll go past Markfield Park and the Beam Engine Museum, the Lea Valley Marina and the Lea Rowing Club.

We'll have a little break in Springfield Park, with the possibility to visit the park's cafe for refreshments.

We'll learn more about the history of the river, its use across decades and the people living in the surrounding areas.

We will finish our tour at the Lea Bridge.

I am a keen walker, always trying to find a new hidden green gem of wilderness in the city, as a way to escape from the noise and bustle and reconnect with nature and myself. I have been living in London for more than 12 years and I particularly love this walk by the river Lea, peaceful and full of beauty and history.
