We will travel back in time to discover how Amsterdam transformed from a sleepy medieval village to the most important city in the world. During a 2.5 hour walking tour we will visit the Golden Age landmarks where Amsterdam's liberal and progressive heritage, and the Dutch empire's wealth and rich culture originated. These monumental remains form the background for exciting tales about Amsterdam's merchants, inventors, painters, thinkers, notables and commoners. Along the way, we will taste both herring and jenever, the Dutch predecessor of gin, two typical Dutch Golden Age delicacies still popular today.
