Cosa farete

***If you want to book for a date not listed on the calendar or a group larger than 4 guests, please message me with the date(s) you want to book and number of guests, and I'll get back to you with availability. Thanks!*** Want to get some hands-on experience with the sweeter side of Kyoto culture? This wagashi workshop is a great way to learn how detail and process are part of Japanese aesthetics, all while creating and eating some sugary sweets. We'll spend about an hour making 4 different wagashi at a historic shop, and enjoy some matcha green tea at the end when we sample a few of our fresh creations (you'll take a few home with you as well). This group workshop is led by a Japanese wagashi master and moves fast, but I'll be making sweets with you and providing translation and guidance (and a few crafting tips of my own). Also, we'll do a short walking tour around the neighborhood. This area was once an important cultural center built around some amazing monuments that we can still see today. Afterwards, I can show you where you can buy high quality matcha tea powder and fancy sweets to take home for souvenirs, as well as tea ceremony utensils and bowls at a discount price.

Terin

Hi, I'm Terin! I work as a private guide in Kyoto and run my own tour company, but my secret dream is to become a wagashi master. I just can't get enough of these special little snacks, and I find both the creation process and overall design really fascinating and fun. I've been making wagashi at this shop for a few years now, and it's one of my favorite hands-on activities in Kyoto. We'll be working with a Japanese wagashi master to learn how to create these famous sweets. As an Air BnB exclusive, this workshop also includes a short tour through the neighborhood as well. Hope you can join me!

Dove ti troverai

Our wagashi experience will take place at one of Kyoto's most famous sweet shops. This place has been around for generations, and its cultural connection to the neighborhood is strong. Since I've been here so many times over the years, I'm friendly with the staff and know the owner. They often ask me if I'm tired of making wagashi yet since I've done it so many times (I don't know if they think I'm crazy or want to hire me).
