Cosa farete

Our 2-3 hr. experience begins with a gorgeous half mile warm up trail around Wonderland Lake. We pause by the lake for mindful running instruction and a guided stretching routine, called Shamatha Yoga, that prepares your mind and body for a mindful run. We then run trails in the hills above Boulder with views of the city and flatirons, ending on the Boulder Creek path. The route highlights Boulder's historic open space and will introduce you to four different local trail systems that you will want to explore further on your own. The run is 5 miles with elevation gain of 783 and loss of 930 feet. We run as a group and go the pace of the person that wants to run the slowest that day. Mindful running does not have to be slow and in fact over time will help you run faster if that is your goal. Setting a comfortable group pace for this run, helps with learning new techniques, avoids the distraction of having something to prove, while building endurance and acclimatization. Our run ends at the Shambhala Meditation Center with a tour of this historic building. Then we will take the city bus back to the trail head concluding with questions and conversation about the experience.

I am co-founder of RunningwiththeMind.com, have a Masters of Divinity Degree from Naropa University, and am a meditation guide for the Boulder Shambhala Center. I have lived in Boulder since 2000 and am part of the local mindful running scene which includes the authors of Running with the Legends and Running with the Mind of Meditation. I look forward to introducing you to Boulder's best trails and the techniques of mindful running. You will run mindfully and experience the trails, places, and history that make mindful running an iconic part of Boulder.

Since 1898, Boulder's Open Space corridor strategy shapes it's character, giving residents proximity to scenic natural beauty and recreational opportunities. Our run connects three Open Space areas with little known trail segments giving you a varied taste where locals run and hike from their back door. The Boulder Shambhala Center, in a historic building with over 100 years of wellness practice, hosts a seldom seen work of art shrine room.
