Cosa farete

Nature therapy is inspired by the practice of Shinrin Yoku (or forest bathing) from Japan. With a focus on slowing down and awakening the senses, our guided invitations help you relax and become present, making room for listening and reflection, for quiet and accepting presence, and for inquiry through all the senses, in a nonjudgmental setting. Put simply, it is mindfulness in nature. Each experience usually lasts 3 hours and walking slowly, no more than a kilometre. You will walk away feeling more relaxed, connected with the natural world, and a boost to your immune system. Forest bathing has many other physical, mental, social and spiritual health benefits demonstrated by scientific studies. The forest is the therapist, the guide just opens the door. It is not unusual for participants to walk away with profound discoveries through strengthened relationships with themselves, others people and the more-than-human world.

Lucy Van Sambeek is a Certified Guide trained by the Association of Nature and Forest Therapy and a member of Nature and Wellbeing Australia. Living in the Nambucca Valley, Lucy brings more than 10 years experience as a social worker in remote and urban Aboriginal communities in the Northern Territory. Her passion is bringing opportunities for healing to people through nature, art and storytelling.

Orara East State Forest is conveniently located within 15 minutes drive of Coffs Harbour. Boasting wonderful walking tracks leading through subtropical rainforest of giant stangler figs and awesome flooded gums, home to the bower bird and untouched fresh flowing creeks, and carefully maintained by the Gumbaynggirr people. Depending on weather, we will wander the Rainforest Loop Track or the trail from Swans Road Crossing Picnic Area.
