I moved to Kyoto city northwest side, near the Kinkakuji, and start to explore the neighborhoods for daily necessities but end up finding a variety of interesting places that foreign visitors normally ignored. I want to fill this gap and showing visitors who come to this area some interesting places to take a deepest view of Kyoto. Compared to Japanese texts and explanations, translations to other languages leave aside some crucial details, most of them concerned to Japanese writting system. I want to explain some details hidden in the ideograms forms at the Daitokuji, Imamiyajinja, and Funaoka hill. I will share some historical and mythical facts that I have been discovering. The walk ends in Kuramaguchi street, where there is a traditional craftwork gallery, funny stores, stylish cafeterias, fancy restaurants and a historical public bath, where you can relax before continuing your journey. I want to make video takes of your experience to edit a short movie. I like movies because I think that watching them makes instant connections to our memories in a vivid and deep way. You can check out a video sample on my Youtube channel. You can find it easily typing "walk movie kyoto" ;)
Il tuo host
Hi, I am Michi a Kyoto based Japanese teacher and translator. I was born and raised in São Paulo and move to Kyoto to learn more about Japanese language and culture. I have a graduation in Geography and a master in Japanese studies. I worked about 10 years in a publisher on travel guide edition. I also worked 2 years with a movie director who taught me a lot about movie edition. Since then I have been produced short videos for close people. I hope you come to Kyoto to breathe its air, feel its mood and letting me take shots of you enjoying this experience!
