Our experience is perfect for visitors to the North-East of Tasmania, who understand the special character of its vineyards, producing world class sparkling and table wines. You learn about: * how and why we treat the soil with seaweed extract; * Why we shape the vines in an espalier format; * how nets can be used to develop the vines (as well as deter pecky birds!) * why we use elastic lines for the foliage, rather than wire You will hear of the parallels between development of our vineyard, and development of the original lavender fields of Tasmania on the river-flats below by Susie's grandparents. How both the lavender and the vines have origins in France, yet have translated to the other half of the planet where the weather and soil have been kind for them. Looking for outdoor invigoration? This is your place! Our vineyard slopes allow you to select a row - or rows - matching your aspirations for a robust, healthy vineyard walk. Get your heart beating in the country air, keep watch for the wedge-tail eagles, goshawks, black and white cockatoos, ravens, currawongs, bandicoots and exquisite golden finches: they all may be seen in and around Tassie's Best Small Vineyard.
Il tuo host
Hello, I am your host: Harry Rigney. Susan Denny and I operate a very special vineyard on our property "Bridestowe Ridge" here in North East Tasmania. We are hands-on here; we do all the work ourselves - apart from when we harvest the grapes, and we bring in a big team - more than 20 people for 2 or 3 days. But most of the time, its just us, and we focus on our land and its produce. Come, see and hear what we do, and why we do it, to make our place special. Its all about: ALTITUDE - LATITUDE - ATTITUDE I look forward to meeting you at our gate!

Your hosts: Harry Rigney and Susan Denny, Producers.
