Llegada temprano. Ayudar a recoger las vacas y preparar la porción necesaria de alimentos para cada animal. Ordeñar las vacas (se necesita un poco de paciencia y delicadeza). Raspa la leche y prepárala cuando esté separada para hacer el queso. Mientras espera, se puede visitar la granja (hicking), alimentar a los animales (pollos, patos, cerdos, etc.), travajar como pastor y acompañar a las vacas en el pastoreo. Pausa para una bebida y comida. Hacer el queso (cortar y cocinar). ¡Come el queso cuando esté caliente!

¡Aprendí a ordeñar vacas antes de poder caminar! Me gustaría presentarles el arte de hacer queso fresco (desde el ordeño hasta la degustación). El cuidado de los animales, la paciencia requerida y el vínculo de confianza necesario para ordeñar las vacas a mano, sin la ayuda de la maquinaria. Soy guia turistico. Hablo 5 idiomas y tantas bromas!

Dove ti troverai

la granja se encuentra en varias colinas en la campiña de Samana. Es posible dar un paseo si usted está en forma y le encantan los deportes hicking. Las botas son necesarias.

This was definitelya hands on experience! Our host, Ramon, openedup his home and made us feel at home. He was a great host and kept reminding us that his home was our home and he really made us feel welcomed and comfortable. I would recommend bringing some insect repellent and renting the rubber boots, as you will be walking through the farm where the cows graze and there are cow patties as there should be expected. Milking the cow and feeding the calves was a great experience. Ramon explained each step in the cheese making process, educated is on the animals and the crops on the land; he also answered any questions we had. The lunch Ramon cooked for us was delicious and the cheese was fantastic! I highly recommend this experience.

We had SO much fun visiting Ramon and his family! He’s a wonderful person and it really felt like we were visiting our family relatives! We saw the animals, fed them, milked the cows. We learned about the farm life, the community around the farm and we got to make our own cheese, which was soooo tasty. Also, we got to share lunch with Ramon and his family. They were so welcoming, kind and lovely with us. At the end we got to visit the local market and meet more locals. What a lovely community! We are so blessed we choose this experience! Definitely coming back again to this area and hoping to meet Ramon and his family again!

👌 seis estrellas para esta experiencia. Disfrute mucho conocer el proceso completo de la creación del queso (y probarlo recién hecho!), además de conversar con Ramón y Marisa quienes fueron muy atentos en todo momento. No solo aprendí muchas cosas nuevas, también me sentí como en casa 💚

This is such a special, memorable experience. The description "unique" is over-used, but for this experience it is justified. I was the only guest today, so I really had my hands on with the farmwork. Ramon and Maryse are very enthusiastic and proud of their way of life, their farm and husbandry ethics, and the finished cheese product. the ground was quite dry for my visit, so low-top trail running shoes worked well. if it's wet there's the option to rent boots. After a coffee on the porch Ramon and I walked down through the cows, ducks and guinea fowl to the milking shelter. The first task was running some "herb" (they didn't know translation but it's part of sugar cane family) through a mini-woodchipper to make a treat for the cows while being milked. Ramon said "we've got to give them something if we want them to give us something". Along with the fresh herb was molasses and a ground rice chaff. all the birds liked this too, and ate alongside the cows. All the cows have names and know when it's their turn at the trough to be milked. Getting some milk to flow was surprisingly easy, but Ramon could fill a bucket so quickly. All this accompanied by tales of each cow and how long they've been with Ramon. Once all the milk was gathered Ramon stirred in some rennet to start the coagulation and we went for a walk around the farm. Great explanations of the cacao trees and other fruits. we looked around the new pastures Ramon and his crew are creating from the wild. Then it was back up to the house where Maryse picked up the process. more stories of the neighborhood, the life they have created, and visits with chicks and baby rabbits. We shared a tasty and hearty lunch, including some local wild honey for dessert. By now the curds had dried out enough for the final step to make the cheese. After that Maryse and I walked down the hill to the market - not a typical part of the tour, but a really special addition. Truly one of the most engaging educational experiences I've had. Come prepared to get grubby, walk, talk, and eat! Highly recommended.

This was a wonderful experience and Ramon and Marysa were amazing hosts! We ended up spending the whole day with them learning about their farm, the animals and of course making cheese that is to die for! I truly recommend this experience for those who want a true Dominican countryside experience! Can’t wait to go back to Samana and see my new friends again!
