Cosa farete

So, uh, why does New York build "really, really big things?" We tend to do that a lot.

This is a fast-paced & funny walking essay that explores the answers to that question through the story of the Brooklyn Bridge. And to do so, we have to look the historical stories of immigration, engineering and political machines.

With this tour, we use the bridge and it's bloody, weird history to get a deeper understanding of what is not only New York City, but what makes any city a city.

My tours are loud, energetic and a little manic, with a focus on the systemic and exploring what is 'history' and questioning what is a city.

I think tours are like essays; they're built on a strong thesis and build an argument as we travel through them. Also, I carry a rubber chicken. Long story, ask me about it on the tour.

I've been giving tours w/ AirBnB for a while now, and I think the guests who respond to my tours the strongest are those looking for something that is outside the "main" attraction (Times Square, Empire State Building) and those who are interested in hearing about the "why" of a city as opposed to the "what."

Dove ti troverai

We walk across the Brooklyn Bridge.
We start in the Civic Center in Manhattan and ending in DUMBO. At the end of the tour, you will end up around plenty of food and transportation options and myself, I'll hide in an ice cream shop and stress eat an entire double scoop as you leave so we don't accidently bump into each other in the subway and it's awkward.

We met John in front of the town hall. He started immediately sharing his thoughts and insight about cities, their structures, their economies and the difference a bridge makes. Enthousiastic, vivid expression with a very specific personal touch. Something to remember for years to come!

Fantastic! Don’t miss it! Great way to walk the bridge and get a dose of history. Kids loved it just as much as I did.

This experience was world-class. We had an excellent time - despite it being a freezing cold and rainy day. I would recommend this tour to everyone! Great value for the fun and knowledge!

It was a wonderful experience and John was a very pleasant guide. I would definitely book another experience with him. I’m happy I chose to do this as a tour rather than just walk over by myself. I had very little knowledge of the bridge going into the tour and I feel like I learned a lot and also had a few laughs.

It was a great experience, better than we expected. Not only did we learn interesting information about Brooklyn Bridge itself but also about the historic context and the impact it had in making New York the city we know today. John’s explanations and comments were clear and well prepared. John’s very nice diction was a bonus since English is not our first language. We highly recommend the experience.
