I’ll meet hikers at a spot that is easily accessible by public transport. We will jump in my car (or an Uber) and drive to the start of the hike. Once at the starting spot we will hike up the hill and stop along the way as we sight kangaroos. Along the way we will stop for opportunities to take pictures. Once we reach the top if its its clear we will see the city skyline in the distance. Once at the final destination we will have a cup of tea and a biscuit. As the kangaroos are wild we will observe them in their natural state – we won’t approach them or try to feed them and as they frighten very easily. The closest we will get to the kangaroos will be about 100 metres away. During the walk we will practice mindfulness and walk in silence. Its also a nice opportunity to reflect and set your intentions for the day. At the end of the hike I will give information about kangaroos and their place in Australian natural history. I’ll share my personal experience of hand raising joeys. I’ll dispel some myths about kangaroos and I will give a ‘where to from here’ for the kangaroo in a suburban environment. After everyone has taken as many pictures as they like we will walk back down the hill. If we don't see kangaroos I will refund your $$, or I will schedule another tour for you. In the case of inclement weather this tour will be cancelled.

Il tuo host
Find out more about me on insta at blissurbia. I grew up on a farm in rural Australia and my passion for Australian animals came from my Dad. I hand reared kangaroos and emus from an early age. Whilst studying for Bachelor of Science at the Adelaide University I studied zoology with a major in Australian marsupials. I have been a AirBnB live-in host for nearly 5 years and for all those 5 years I have taken my guests to see kangaroos in the wild. Currently we live in South Morang, an outer suburb of Melbourne, and there is a big mob of kangaroos at the end of our street. The best time of day to see them is dawn or dusk as that is when they feed and I often take my AirBnB guests to see the roos. A bonus is that on a clear day (most of our days are clear) there is also a great view of the city.

Dove ti troverai
We will meet at an spot easily accessible by public transport. We will hike to spots where kangaroos gather. I will escort participants back to the original meeting point. The meeting and drop off point is close to the Westfield Plenty Valley and its brand new extension with great cafes, a martini bar, a cinema, a book shop, an ice-cream salon and more. Plenty of places to have breakfast or dinner or a cheeky cocktail after your hike.

We will meet in the early morning or late afternoon as this is when the kangaroos are most active. I will notify you of the exact meeting time once you book. This is a small group activity, however will need to be silent for the last part of the walk to have the best chance of seeing the kangaroos.
