Informazioni sull'host

I have an honours degree in education and these days my life revolves around sharing ‘real’ Greek philosophy with others. Since 2012 I have been giving regular ‘informal’ Greek philosophy talks and walks in Greece (Athens and Delphi). My first philosophy book was published in 2013 with a new edition released in 2019. It includes a chapter on Aristotle’s Practical Philosophy and Happiness .... so…

Cosa faremo

‘Aristotle’s Practical Philosophy’ (A real Greek philosophy walk and talk.) This philosophy ‘Walk and Talk’ emphasises Aristotle’s practical philosophy, and how to improve our personal happiness and that of the cities we live in. The talk also touches on the environment, sustainability, our modern democracies, and the goals of education. We will meet at 9.15 am at the 'Coffee Island' café…

Cos'altro dovresti sapere

- There is a 30 minute gentle walk to where we have the main talk. Guests should feel comfortable with this light/moderate level of activity. - No previous experience or study of formal philosophy is needed to come along and enjoy the talk, although more experienced philosophers are also welcome.

Cosa portare

- In the summer months you may want to bring a sun hat and sun glasses
- I recommend bringing a small bottle of water 'any time of the year'. (There are also plenty of places to buy one along our way...)
- Although we are not walking far - part of the way is cobbled stone and rocky - so trainers or shoes are recommended over 'flip flaps' - (... but then I never was much good with flip flaps :)

Dove ti troverai

Athens is not just traffic jams and crowded streets. On this Walk and Talk you will see a different side of the city with lovely views and tranquil places. We simply meet at a coffee shop opposite the Metro - ready to leave at 9.30 am We walk up the Thisseon boulevard which is popular for Greek “Coffee” Culture - with both local Athenians and tourists alike. After 20-30 minutes we arrive at a spectacular and inspiring place for our talk.
